What is value? Business markets are undergoing an evolution similar to that of the industrial revolution, but in this case, it's the electronic commerce revolution and its ability to offer value. You've undoubtedly heard the term, but like most business people, you may be hard pressed to come up with a clear definition of value. By value, do we mean savings, benefits, quality, convenience, etc? To further complicate matters is trying to determine what it means for your customers. An important point to consider is whose definition would you accept, yours, a consumer, a visitor, a business partner, an employee? The beauty of using the Value Matrix Approach is that you will be able to uncover what all of them think, and act accordingly. Looking towards the future it can be seen that in order to compete in electronic commerce, or for that matter any business, value must be delivered. However, value must not be delivered in the eyes of the organization but rather in the eyes of the customer.

Abortion And The Ways We Value Human Life

Author : Jeffrey H. Reiman
ISBN : 0847692086
Genre : Philosophy
File Size : 64.3 MB
Format : PDF, ePub
Download : 203
Read : 1031

In Abortion and the Ways We Value Human Life, Jeffrey Reiman argues that an overlooked clue to the solution of the moral problem of abortion lies in the unusual way in which we value the lives of individual human beings-namely, that we value them irreplaceably. We think it is not only wrong to kill an innocent child or adult, but that it would not be made right by replacing the dead one with another living one, or even several. Reiman argues that there are only a limited number of facts that could justify such valuing, with the result that human children and adults have the fullest right to protection of their lives, infants have a lesser but substantial right to such protection, and fetuses do not qualify at all. Leading up to this argument, Reiman presents a survey of Western attitudes and laws about abortion from Hammurabi's Code to Roe v. Wade, and a critical analysis of all the major philosophical arguments on the issue, pro and con. The book is written in straightforward, jargon-free language that makes it accessible to college students at all levels and to the educated lay reader as well.

Many in spirit look on these times of difficulty, abundance, trouble, and innovation and wish to share with you their experiences and ideas. Some famous names and faces will come to mind as you read this book, and you will glean some fine information about their own learning, their own suffering, and indeed their own experience in the life after this life, for they all wish to tell you that there is no death as you perceive it to be. They are all there in their astral forms, enjoying their continued growth, their continued expansion, and their continued joy in living. Their messages are as varied as their lives were, and our purpose is this: For you to understand your true nature, your true potential, you must let go of your fear of death, for it makes you afraid to live. It causes you to rush and panic, to become scared, and to become paralyzed. If you truly understood that you are eternal beings, forgiven for all your errors and blamed for nothing that you would call a sin, you would open your hearts and minds to so much more and enjoy yourselves so much more. You would not suffer so at the loss of your loved ones, and you would work less and achieve more, for when you are in fear and grief, you are not yourselves and cannot achieve the goals that you have set for yourselves before you decided to be born onto this plane you call life. Read this with an open mind and heart, and hear what these beings have to say. You have revered and reviled them in life; now let them complete their stories in what you call death, for that is the complete story, is it not? ? Ananda

Format : PDF, Mobi

The book analyzes, synthesizes, and evaluates the insights of the world's outstanding thinkers, prophets, and literary masters on the good, the morally right, and the lovely (part one); the question whether the world operates on the basis of such universal laws as the logos, the tao, and the principle of polarity (part two); what there is and isn't in the world, including such categories as existence, reality, being, and nonbeing (part three); and pre-eminently credible and enriching beliefs about truth, wisdom, and what it all means (part four). Emphasis is placed on the divergent views of such intellectual giants as Confucius and Laotse in ancient China; the classical Hindu philosophers from ancient times to Gandhi and Tagore; patriarchs and prophets quoted in Scripture; Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle; Saints Augustine and Thomas Aquinas in the Middle Ages; Descartes, Spinoza, Locke, Hume, and Kant; and nineteenth- and twentieth-century luminaries such as Bentham, Mill, Peirce, James, Dewey, Sartre, and Wittgenstein. The differences and resemblances of their cogitations are portrayed as a conversation of the ages on questions of persistent concern.
