I want to be iconic. I want to be beautiful, reckless, feared, hated, ahead of the times. I want to be different, I want to be dangerous . . . London, 2001. Raves. Revision. Re-election. Nadia is swept up in one hot summer's night of love that promises endless possibilities. Drinking, dancing, hope, ambition, lust, greed . . . and decisions that will determine the rest of her life. Rhythmically underscored by a live mix of old-school UK Garage, With A Little Bit of Luck explores the legacy of a cultural movement that defined the hopes of a generation. It received its world premiere at the Latitude Festival 2015 and then was produced as a tour by Paines Plough and Latitude from 13 April 2016.

Although underfoot was sloppy and slippery, we were careful to watch where we stepped. Once again, the scenery caught us off guard. Beyond the well-traveled roads of the area is the history of an era in its quiet repose. The very first Welland Canal was part of that scene, hidden by brush and overgrowth and quietly reminding one of a much earlier time. Huge rocks cut from the local rock to form the walls of the canal were amazing. Stone overpasses beginning to break away and an old steel bridge standing silent in a now wasteland is a monument to a previous era.. As we continued, a jolt brought us back to the present, as we exited out of the woods to a path which skirted a beautiful, lush, green golf course. Todays world rejoined!

ALL NET PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS BOOK ARE DONATED TO THE NATIONAL MS SOCIETY. Check out Bundy singing one of his songs to his Granddaughter at her Bat Mitzvah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_CQCy7f1Xw PLAY ON WORDS is another term for pun. Pun is the humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its diff erent meanings or applications. Play can mean a dramatic composition or piece; a performance, as on the stage; exercise or activity for amusement or recreation; fun or jest, as opposed to seriousness (Dictionary.com). This book is full of humor, puns, and lots of fun. H. Bundy Shaw loved words. He loved the diff erent uses, the different meanings, and the different pronunciations of words. Bundy also loved to play the piano, sing, and make people smile. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, and extended family. This book is a sixty-year history of Bundys writing, beginning with poems he wrote during World War II, through his career with Playtex, his retirement in southern Florida until his death in 2002. He wrote lyrics for skits at the Playtex Annual Meeting, which included Trouble in Midriff City about the new Long Line Living Bra. He wrote lyrics and poems for anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, and bar and bat mitzvahs. Encompassed in them was a complete biography of the person or people he was honoring. He also wrote a musical, Our Fair Couple, which is a spoof of My Fair Lady. Bundy never earned any money from his lyrics and writing, so all the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to the National MS Society in his memory. It is my hope that these writings will bring enjoyment to you.

File Size : 70.80 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

Now Turtledove returns to the story of a World War in a world where magic works, with this moving second volume. Algarvian soldiers corral Kaunians to send them west, towards Unkerlant, to work camps. The Kaunians left behind are worried about what the work camps might mean, but are assuaged by Algarvian lies. In Kuusamo, scholars race to find the relation between the laws of similarity and contagion. Rumors abound about the Algarvian work camps, rumors most cannot believe as true. But the mages know, for they can feel the loss of life in their very souls. Turtledove's cast of characters in Darkness Descending takes on its own life as the reader sees the war from all sides and understands how the death and destruction benefits no one, not even the victors. Warning And Response To The Mount St Helens Eruption

ISBN : 9781438418421
Genre : Religion
File Size : 39.48 MB
Format : PDF, Kindle
Download : 723

This comprehensive book traces the warning, planning, and response to the eruption of Mount St. Helens in May 1980, as seen through the eyes of key actors in the emergency. Based on first-hand accounts by 130 officials of government, private industry, and volunteer organizations—individuals who played prominent roles in preparing for and dealing with the eruption—it represents a unique overview of the problems and procedures involved in learning about, planning for, and dealing with a major disaster. Ironically, the first official warning had come as early as two years previously. More warnings came several months before the explosion. Yet many persons involved either ignored them or remained unaware that they could be affected. The book shows how this happened, suggesting steps that can be taken to insure future preparedness for large-scale emergencies.

With an Edwardian twist on The Tempest, and surprising, earthy, and magical qualities, this irresistible novel is set on the remote, divided Scottish island of Kissack and Skilling, one half of which looks historically and geographically towards Catholic Ireland, the other toward the Protestant north and Scandinavia. In the spring of 1903 a ship explodes as it docks on the island, drowning many of the passengers and crew in the icy waters of Stolnsay harbor. Young, strawberry-blonde-haired Billie Paxton is among the only survivors. Clumsy, illiterate, and suddenly alone, Billie will not say why, before the explosion, she jumped from ship to shore, and so falls under the immediate suspicion of her fellow passenger, Murdo Hesketh, and his cousin and employer, Lord Hallowhulme, who owns the island—and has controversial plans for improving the lives of its inhabitants. Gloriously inventive and vividly atmospheric, Billie’s Kiss conjures up a way of life hurtling toward a brave new world in an enchanting novel that brings together murder and eugenics, progress, prejudice, and the loss of innocence.

Format : PDF, ePub

A warm and witty saga about agribusiness, environmental activism, and community—from the celebrated author of My Year of Meats and A Tale for the Time Being Yumi Fuller hasn’t set foot in her hometown of Liberty Falls, Idaho—heart of the potato-farming industry—since she ran away at age fifteen. Twenty-five years later, the prodigal daughter returns to confront her dying parents, her best friend, and her conflicted past, and finds herself caught up in an altogether new drama. The post-millennial farming community has been invaded by Agribusiness forces at war with a posse of activists, the Seeds of Resistance, who travel the country in a camping car, “The Spudnick,” biofueled by pilfered McDonald’s french-fry oil. Following her widely hailed, award-winning debut novel, My Year of Meats, Ruth Ozeki returns here to deliver a quirky cast of characters and a wickedly humorous appreciation of the foibles of corporate life, globalization, political resistance, youth culture, and aging baby boomers. All Over Creation tells a celebratory tale of the beauty of seeds, roots, and growth—and the capacity for renewal that resides within us all.
