My unstructured upbringing, and cares to the wind attitude, led to my frequent incarceration, from childhood to adulthood, it’s a disturbing story, which is primarily aimed at the adult reading audience, who enjoy reading about reality situations and crime. I have always been a reader, and to a large extent, that helped me become a self taught person. Born on the banks of the Colorado River in Arizona, and raised up in the Marcos De Niza barrio projects in South Phoenix, I experienced the injustices of the cotton fields, Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Home, and Arizona State Industrial School at Fort Grant, Arizona. I wandered the desperate streets of Los Angeles, and the forlorn railroad tracks, alone, like a lost person without a purpose in life. I was locked up in the jails of Phoenix, and Los Angeles, before winding up in the California State penitentiary system. Upon my release, I struggled to stay out of the pen, and took the jobs that society at large would never want to take. Through numerous personal tragedies, incarcerations, and unfortunate circumstances, I lost control of my life. No one was ever able to change my destructive behavior. The changes when they occurred came from within me, when I could no longer cope, with the situations I had cast my self into. Looking back, I can now see what I couldn’t see, during those hopeless time periods. I was very fortunate, to finally be able to leave that life behind me, through relationships that believed in me, and successfully worked, and built myself a civil service work career, from which I retired. I now spend my days enjoying life’s simple pleasures, after all my previous tragic missteps. My objective in life now, is to become an accomplished writer.

‘I miss him with every breath and heartbeat. He should have been my happy ending. Instead, he is the sad beginning to my story.’ Olivia and Luca Felicone had known each other nearly all their lives, but when they fell in love as teenagers and eloped to London, they broke the hearts of those closest to them. Luca’s parents run Marinella’s restaurant, the colourful hub of life in the otherwise bleak north-eastern seaside town of Watersford, and his mother, Angela, has never forgiven Olivia for causing such a rift in her beloved family. On a freezing January night Olivia’s life is shattered when she learns that Luca has been killed in a car accident on the M1. She is left with nothing, and after suffering from weeks of overwhelming grief, she abandons her job and returns North to where Luca has been buried in Watersford, just to be close to him – even though she knows she will not be welcome at Marinella’s. Olivia’s chance meeting with Luca’s married twin brother, Marc, leads to the realization that he is experiencing a loss almost as painful as her own. Their desolation draws them into an affair which both know has no future, but fills the space where Luca should be. It is a course of action that can only spiral out of control, and when it does, the consequences are both explosive and cruel. The Love of My Life by Louise Douglas is a beautiful novel that portrays both the innocence of childhood, and the dynamics of love and loss with deftness and sensitivity. It is, above all, a stunning debut from an author with a unique and natural narrative voice.

Soul Sword The Way And Mind Of A Zen Warrior

File Size : 79.28 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

This book is about conquering fear. Roshi Kitabu (writing as Vernon Kitabu Turner) knows from personal experience how to overcome fear. As a child, he cowered before neighbourhood bullies until finally he was driven to find his courage because he had to defend his brother. From that point he resolved to help anyone in need, and began to study martial arts. As a result of an extraordinary act of synchronicity, he met a Japanese Zen master, and shortly afterwards experienced an epiphany (satori), by which he understood that it is the soul that controls the body: 'in a blaze of light, I immediately understood the secret of self-defense from the inside out.' With virtually no training in the martial arts, he became a master - and after a sensational 'trial by combat' he was made a 'black belt'. Roshi Kitabu shares his secret - and explains that this power exists in everyone. He shows the steps that must be taken to cultivate the Warrior Mind - involving a direct flow from the Soul (your inherent spiritual power) into action. 'Before you can begin to control a possible assailant, you must take control of your thoughts. A warrior must believe in his ability to win.' This has become a truism for all serious practitioners of martial arts - but its message applies equally to all the obstacles that one encounters in life: truly the soul houses the sword. Through diligent practice, we can sharpen ourselves to a razor's edge and learn to cut though any obstacle as it arises.

No one on the planet can deny the Physical Signs of the Era in which we live. We see them every day on television, the internet or in newspapers. But, the Real Signs are "unseen and are Spiritual in nature. In the King James Bible, Deception is not only mentioned four times in Matthew chapter twenty-four, but Jesus mentions it first among the signs of the end. Certainly it must be among the most significant and perhaps the most powerful sign before His return. We will discover this is great detail as we study the Bible together. Satan, the enemy of all mankind tried to pollute the blood line of Messiah in order to stop any hope for redemption for mankind in Genesis Chapter 6, however, when that failed he tried to murder the descendants of the Messiah and eventually baby Jesus through King Herod. He failed yet again! Now the Dragon has his sights on the Gospel message itself. The Devil knows that the Gospel is power and brings humanity out of the Darkness of this fallen world and into the Light of Jesus Christ. Knowing his time is limited, Satan has started the final campaign to pervert and change the true Gospel into a false gospel called Mental Jesus! By the Grace of God, we will examine his methods, weapons and strategies using the Word of God to expose his plans. Mental Jesus is an eye-opening realistic book that exposes the darkest Deception the enemy has ever attempted... to destroy the Gospel and replace the "Good" seed with an "Evil" seed. This produces false coverts over and over again. But, "fear not" the Lord says because 1 John 4:4 says "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." Amen.

It really surprised me that I started writing articles for The Jewish Georgian, a local (Atlanta) publication. You will be surprised too when you read how it began. The radio comes on at 7:00 a.m. A really nice tune is playing and a new day begins. But I am caught up in memories and lie in bed a little longer than usual. It is December 29. In a couple of days, the old year will end and the astounding fact is that 1998 will be here soon. Major events in my life start parading through my mind. The growing-up years in my hometown of Durham, North Carolina, the summers spent at Virginia Beach, my first marriage proposal when I was 18, graduating from school, going to college and away from home to work.
