Do you feel broken, condemned, worthless, lost and unable to see beyond your past? Do you believe your past has disqualified you from becoming the woman God created you to be? You are very valuable to God-despite the mess that your life may be right now, despite the ugliness that you may see in your life, and despite everything that you feel right now. God wants you standing tall and beautiful. He wants you to be an example of His mercy, grace, and love. He wants you to radiate His glory and beauty. God is able and willing to take what may be broken, and put it back together. He takes what may seem worthless and restores its worth. He takes what may be dirty and old, and He washes and cleans it up to become new. Our trash is God's treasure. We throw people away when we reject, condemn, and judge them, but what we don't realize is that we are all God's treasure. We may have been discarded by others, but God will never discard us. He creates only masterpieces, unique works of art that are meant to be treasured because of their great worth. You are a designer's original-His masterpiece. Don't let people tell you that you have made too many mistakes or done too many ungodly things and that you have become trash. No matter what you have done in your past. Nothing can change who you are or how He sees you-You are and will always be His daughter.

Oak Island And Its Lost Treasure

Author : Graham Harris
ISBN : 9781459502604
Genre : History
File Size : 84.84 MB
Format : PDF

Read : 709

Civil engineers Graham Harris and Les MacPhie have spent over a decade investigating the enigma of Nova Scotia's Oak Island. In this new edition of their book, they set out the previously unknown story of how complex and expensive engineering work was undertaken to create an elaborate flood tunnel on the island. Built to frustrate treasure seekers attempting to get at the valuables buried decades earlier at the bottom of the island's Money Pit, the tunnel has admirably served its purpose. It has ensured that all efforts up to now to recover the treasure have been unsuccessful. Oak Island poses two different challenges for treasure seekers. There is a deep mine shaft, at the bottom of which the treasure lies. The authors offer evidence that this treasure came from the wreck of a Spanish galleon in the seventeenth century. Even more mystifying than the mine shaft is the complex tunnel which links it to the ocean. Harris and MacPhie have determined that the project would have required a labour force of over 100 men to supplement a small force of experienced miners. The work would have taken almost two years to complete. In new chapters written for this edition, they present the evidence they have discovered in British military history records which shows who commanded this force, how it reached Nova Scotia, and when the work was carried out. The new facts and insights offered in this book are a startling and convincing addition to the history of Oak Island.

Pearl

The anonymous author of the poem Pearl is rated with Langland and Chaucer as one of the greatest Middle English poets. And, while a number of editions of this poem have been published, including E. V. Gordon's 1953 edition and Marie Borroff's 1977 verse translation, no edition until now has included a verse translation, Middle English text, and commentary in one volume. William Vantuono's edition of Pearl is certain to become a classroom standard because it contains for the first time a Middle English text with a facing-page Modern English verse translation as well as extensive scholarly apparatus. Pearl is the first of four poems in a manuscript dated around 1400 A.D. The other three poems in this manuscript are Cleanness, Patience, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. According to Vantuono's introduction, it is conceivable that Pearl was written for a nobleman, perhaps the poet's patron, who had lost a young daughter. However, many unanswered questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the poet and his writing of Pearl: Was he a layman or a priest? Is Pearl primarily elegy or allegory? Was the pearl-maiden his daughter, and if she was, can that fact be reconciled with the possibility that the poet was a clergyman? This volume contains an extensive commentary covering all matters from minute textual problems to the various debates about the poem's theme and genre. Appendices discuss versification, dialect and language, and sources and analogues; two bibliographies list over 500 items through the early 1990s; and the book concludes with a full glossary. Pearl: An Edition with Verse Translation will appeal to scholars confronted with the tasks of studying and teaching medieval literature to students in college and university classrooms. It is a book designed for specialists and non-specialists, students, and general readers.
