The novel's new incarnation, "This Side of Paradise," a largely autobiographical story about love and greed, was centered on Amory Blaine, an ambitious Midwesterner who falls in love with, but is ultimately rejected by, two girls from high-class families. The novel was published in 1920 to glowing reviews and, almost overnight, turned Fitzgerald, at the age of 24, into one of the country's most promising young writers. One week after the novel's publication, he married Zelda Sayre in New York. They had one child, a daughter named Frances Scott Fitzgerald, born in 1921. In 1922, Fitzgerald published his second novel, "The Beautiful and Damned," the story of the troubled marriage of Anthony and Gloria Patch. The Beautiful and Damned helped to cement his status as one of the great chroniclers and satirists of the culture of wealth, extravagance and ambition that emerged during the affluent 1920s-what became known as the Jazz Age.

This Side of Paradise is the debut novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was published in 1920. The book examines the lives and morality of post–World War I youth. Its protagonist, Amory Blaine, is an attractive Princeton University student who dabbles in literature. The novel explores the theme of love warped by greed and status seeking. The novel famously helped F. Scott Fitzgerald gain Zelda Sayre's hand in marriage due to its success. This Side of Paradise blends different styles of writing: it is, at times, a fictional narrative, at times free verse, and at times a narrative drama, interspersed with letters and poems from Amory. In fact, the novel's odd blend of styles was the result of Fitzgerald's cobbling his earlier attempt at a novel, "The Romantic Egotist", together with assorted short stories and poems that he had composed but never published. The occasional switch from third person to second person gives the hint that the story is semi-autobiographical.

Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the timeOn this side of paradise is located in the first decades of the twentieth century and is the story of the learning of the young Amory Blaine, his education in the broadest sense: sentimental, intellectual and moral, and his entry into the world. Son of a faint-hearted father and eccentric mother - a couple of well-off financial position - Amory is pursuing higher education at Princeton University. Ególatra, pedantic, conceited, in constant search of a functional profile to his surroundings, Amory is nothing more than a boy who tries all the time to define the playing area, to infer the rules of that game and to gauge the size of his opponents Each new knowledge that comes to be added to your belief system modifies everything else and, therefore, ends up modifying it. The volatility of his identity is one of his most frequent fears. How should it be to get what you want? Is that the right question? Is it the end that determines personality? Should a personality be molded to live up to the means that guarantee the end pursued? In a way, the American higher education system of which Amory is a party, legitimizes and imposes a particular purpose and grants the means. When these means are set in motion to achieve the intended purpose, the result is a "generational personality", a certain number of people executing certain actions to achieve a specific objective.
