Shane's ancestors are members of a first Nations Tribe who had lived on their island centuries before.. He discovers an ebony box containing two pieces of highly carved and strangely figured Obsidian. Both he and Peggy wear them as necklaces and just feel that they are beautiful jewellry. One day Shane comes upon a dreadful scene where he sees a young Orca whale fighting for its life trapped on a sand bar. He realizes there is no one else to help in a rescue attempt and he and Peggy must try to save this Orca themselves. His Talisman was created by his son after Torans own death. passing With the assistance of great eagles and the whale pod members with the guidance of the shaman they manage to fight off an attack of poachers and then with the pulling strength of the mother and the deep diving powers of Shane, pull Bubba to safety (that is what he is named.)They remain telepathically linked with Bubba who loves them, wherever they all are. The Shaman couples spirits are able to communicate after centuries of imprisonment and with the help of the children cast a dangerous and complex spell spell that will allow holograms of the loving Shaman couple to appear. They may be able to see and embrace each other. However during the spell they are suspicious that an evil entity held captive in the graveyard by sorcery may have been activated. Because of the increased calls for help in other whale maroonings around the world, the children set up WHALE WHISPERERS INC. They are kept busy aiding rescues around the world. Bubba helps in many cases and must confront a deadly Great White Shark in San Diego Bay. When the school year begins, Shane asks his Shaman if he can use his new powers in the upcoming race and other track and field events. What if we changed the face of evangelism? In a time when so many have a negative perception of evangelism, what if a new model was entirely biblical, loaded with skills, and more effective? Soul Whisperer shifts the emphasis from telling to a drawing paradigm. It develops biblically the pattern of Jesus, who did not give static presentations but rather customized his words to each hearer. By learning his ways, our words, too, can have pinpointed impact! Christians will discover how to draw out first, in order to read their friends and discern the relevant appeal of the gospel. In this way, the style is far more dynamic. It adapts! Understanding the non-believer's unique starting point will determine a distinct path. By creating a conversation about spiritual influence and what is involved in faith formation, this book charts ways for Christians to go deeper in evangelistic relationships. Most importantly, Soul Whisperer infuses skills that will shape a more Christ-likened missional disciple.

Animals In Film

Author : Jonathan Burt
ISBN : 9781861895721
Genre : Performing Arts
File Size : 84.19 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

Read : 574

From Salvador Dalí to Walt Disney, animals have been a constant yet little-considered presence in film. Indeed, it may come as a surprise to learn that animals were a central inspiration to the development of moving pictures themselves. In Animals in Film, Jonathan Burt points out that the mobility of animals presented technical and conceptual challenges to early film-makers, the solutions of which were an important factor in advancing photographic technology, accelerating the speed of both film and camera. The early filming of animals also marked one of the most significant and far-reaching changes in the history of animal representation, and has largely determined the way animals have been visualized in the twentieth century. Burt looks at the extraordinary relation-ship between animals, cinema and photography (including the pioneering work of Eadweard Muybridge and Jules-Etienne Marey) and the technological developments and challenges posed by the animal as a specific kind of moving object. Animals in Film is a shrewd account of the politics of animals in cinema, of how movies and video have developed as weapons for animal rights activists, and of the roles that animals have played in film, from the avant-garde to Hollywood.

With unforgettable characters and exotic wildlife, The Elephant Whisperer is an enthralling book that will appeal to animal lovers and adventurous souls everywhere. When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of 'rogue' elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival – dangerous and unpredictable, they would be killed if Anthony wouldn't take them in. As Anthony risked his life to create a bond with the troubled elephants and persuade them to stay on his reserve, he came to realize what a special family they were, from the wise matriarch Nana, who guided the herd, to her warrior sister Frankie, always ready to see off any threat, and their children who fought so hard to survive.
