William and Beatrice Hampston gladly welcome nine-year-old Russell Hendrix into their home in Nelson, British Columbia, in December of 1945. This older, childless couple enjoys the company of this orphaned boy who had been hiding in their barn. The Hampstons and the townspeople soon realize that Russell is an extraordinary child. He intimately knows the details of the Bible and of the life of Jesus Christ. Russell is popular with both the students at school and the adults in the community as they believe in his mission as a young preacher of the good word. When Russell resurrects his friend Lawrence from death, people suspect that he is Jesus Christ returned to earth as a small child. But Russell doesn’t think he is Jesus, and he doesn’t want to be Jesus. As he grows older, he faces enormous problems because many continue to pray to him despite Russell’s insistence that he isn’t Jesus Christ. The matter is laid to rest when sixteen-year-old Russell goes missing. Years later, the Vatican investigates whether or not the boy really was Jesus Christ.

Dedicated to the centenary of Rudolf Steiner's first proclamation of Christ's appearance in the etheric realm of the Earth, this book discusses various aspects of that event that had not previously been addressed adequately. Sergei Prokofieff points to three themes of primary importance, all of which are connected directly with the tasks of the Society that Rudolf Steiner founded: ∞ The preparation of humankind for the Second Coming ∞ Working with Christ as the Lord of Karma ∞ Recognizing in Anthroposophy the spiritual language through which questions can be posed to the etheric Christ today Prokofieff describes these and other critical undertakings, such as forging a strong relationship with Michael and the importance of recognizing the adversarial forces attempting to falsify Christ's Second Coming. The Appearance of Christ in the Etheric is of relevance to every individual who wishes to take an active role in fulfilling the needs of our time.

The Structure Of Appearance

With this third edition of Nelson Goodman's The Structure of Appear ance, we are pleased to make available once more one of the most in fluential and important works in the philosophy of our times. Professor Geoffrey Hellman's introduction gives a sustained analysis and appreciation of the major themes and the thrust of the book, as well as an account of the ways in which many of Goodman's problems and projects have been picked up and developed by others. Hellman also suggests how The Structure of Appearance introduces issues which Goodman later continues in his essays and in the Languages of Art. There remains the task of understanding Good man's project as a whole; to see the deep continuities of his thought, as it ranges from logic to epistemology, to science and art; to see it therefore as a complex yet coherent theory of human cognition and practice. What we can only hope to suggest, in this note, is the b. road Significance of Goodman's apparently technical work for philosophers, scientists and humanists. One may say of Nelson Goodman that his bite is worse than his bark. Behind what appears as a cool and methodical analysis of the conditions of the construction of systems, there lurks a radical and disturbing thesis: that the world is, in itself, no more one way than another, nor are we. It depends on the ways in which we take it, and on what we do.

Evidence From Scripture And History Of The Second Coming Of Christ About The Year 1843 Exhibited In A Course Of Lectures

Over the centuries, God has revealed to His prophets clues to the upcoming events of the end times. Such prophetic language often differs from other parts of Scripture, employing highly figurative details. God in His wisdom has imparted these clued to various prophets spanning centuries of time, civilizations and social levels, thus providing the modern-day reader a highly complex, yet complete prophetic puzzle pointing us forward to final days in earth's history. Therefore, a complete study is necessary to understanding Bible prophecy as the act of overlooking one prophet or vision will render an incomplete understanding. William miller was a simple New York farmer when God called him to become one of the cornerstones of the great revival movement that eventually formed the foundation of the Seventh-day Adventist church. A self-proclaimed agnostic, Miller had little to do with God or the bible for much of his adult life. However, as the Holy Spirit worked on his heart, Miller began an extensive study of the Scriptures where he found Christ as his personal friend and Saviour. Evidence From Scripture and History explores into the heart of many Bible prophecies both known and ambiguous. Backing up all claims wich Scripture and references, Miller takes the reader on an exhaustive study of Bible prophecy in this modern-day repring of an early advent study. - INTRODUCTION. LECTURE I. The Measurement Of Appearance

Author : Richard S. Hunter
ISBN : 0471830062
Genre : Science
File Size : 50.39 MB
Format : PDF, ePub, Docs
Download : 819

This second edition of a unique text/reference identifies the appearance attributes of objects and the methods available for measuring them, bringing together much material not previously organized for ready reference. The primary premise here is that ``object appearance'' involves not only color, but such attributes as gloss, luster, and translucency. The first part of the book, concerned with nature of appearance, draws from the fields of physiology and psychology and considers the eye-brain combination and the way it receives and interprets light signals. This is followed by a consideration of the optical properties of objects from the physical standpoint. The second part of the book deals with the numerical scales used to measure object appearance. The discussion here draws on psychophysics in describing the uses of physical techniques to give numbers having psychological significance. The third part of the book covers instruments for the measurement of the attributes of object appearance, their principles of design, and a survey of the major ones in use. The final chapter discusses specific applications of appearance measurement. Includes appendixes and a glossary.
