The internationally acclaimed architect's grounds of his Hamptons estate on Long Island, New York--a lush garden oasis masterfully transformed over the course of two decades. Peter Marino's quintessentially American landscape is a combination of organizational rigor and a joyful informality in the use of plant materials. The gardens feature carefully curated plants, trees, and flowers on twelve acres including a "color wheel" of purple, pink, red, and yellow gardens, evergreen trees, an apple orchard, a formal rose garden, and nearly forty works of art by François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne. Seasonal floral highlights include the colorful blooms of azaleas in the late spring, roses in June, and hydrangeas in the summer. This book shows the landscape in different seasons and moods, captured in both a laid-back grandeur-- sunny vistas, moonlit moments, the beauty of natural elements and sublime works of art--and in a moody atmosphere, when the dramatic light after a summer storm imbues the garden with a romantic haze. The garden is presented as a picturesque example of a first-rate contemporary landscape and as a dreamlike Eden.

My name is Peter Wraae Marino, and I have been teaching gymnastics for over 25 years. Trampolines have become very cheap and are accessible by almost anyone. Almost every street has a house with a garden trampoline. Trampolines are fun, and they allow kids to start exploring the world of gymnastics in their own garden. At our gymnastics club, we start new classes right after summer vacation. It is very easy to pick out the children who have garden trampolines. These children will usually attempt more difficult skills without any technical knowledge about how to execute these skills. It saddens me to see this because many of these children want to do gymnastics but have used their whole summer developing gymnastic skills on the trampoline incorrectly and have therefore created what we call “bad habits.” Bad habits is a term used in the gymnastic world when a gymnast always executes their skill using an incorrect technique because he or she has done it so many times that it has become second nature. This handbook is created to help tackle these problems. This handbook assumes that you have no knowledge about gymnastics or trampolines. We will build your basic trampoline skills step-by-step from the ground up.

Revered and collected by design connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike, the work of husband-and-wife team Claude and Franois-Xavier Lalanne defies categorization. Crossing between sculpture and the functional object, the designs by the Lalannes--such as a hammered brass rhino-cum-desk--are whimsical and elegant with references to ancient French craftsmanship and twentieth-century Surrealism. This is the first intimate visual biography of their work, as well as the studio and life of the Lalannes. Never-before-seen photographs of their studio and home life--where study models and unfinished sculptures reveal a true portrait of the artists at work--are combined with the finished works shown in galleries and gardens, including an installation on the grassy median of Park Avenue in New York and their largest outdoor exhibition at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden outside of Miami. Transforming visual imagery of flora and fauna into delightfully sensual, dreamlike objects, the designs by the Lalannes have been sought by the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Jacques Grange, and Peter Marino. This publication makes their work and process understandable, and ultimately accessible.

This outstanding collection of European bronze sculptures formed by Peter Marino, here catalogued for the first time and beautifully photographed by Maggie Nimkin, is built around an exploration of the human form, as depicted in this lustrous and sensuous material. With a special focus on French and Italian bronzes of the High Baroque, the catalogue illustrates the lively interchange of artists and ideas between Florence, Paris and Rome. Above all, the bronzes in the Marino collection are wonderful works of art, whose beauty and power speak across the centuries to today's audiences.

In the tradition of Addison Mizner, Maurice Fatio, John Volk, and Howard Major–the early architects of Palm Beach’s great estates and public buildings of the Gilded Age–the architecture of Jeffery W. Smith stands resplendent as a testament to the refined elegance of another time, and is as well a promise of the grandeur that the future holds. Hailed by Town & Country as “the most adept young historicist working in Palm Beach today,” preeminent Palm Beach architect Jeffery Smith is a paragon of exquisite design sense, as is clearly evident in the houses featured here. Smith’s work–a continuation of the classical Mediterranean style characteristic of the town that has come to be known as the “American Riviera”–is showcased in Palm Beach Splendor in seventeen of his most recent projects, in magnificent full-color photographs featuring interiors by such well-known designers as Peter Marino and David Easton.
