Being vegan doesn’t have to mean living off kale and quinoa, or spending your money on fancy and expensive ingredients. And it definitely doesn’t have to mean feeling limited for choices of what to eat! What if “vegan food” could mean cheesy nachos and pizza, hearty burritos, gooey spinach and artichoke dip, decadent chocolate cake or even crème brûlée? Well, it can. In Fuss-Free Vegan, Sam Turnbull shows you that “vegan” does not equal unappetizing dishes, complicated steps, ingredients you have never heard of, or even food that tastes healthy. Instead, she gives you drool-worthy yet utterly fuss-free recipes that will bring everyone together at the table, vegans and non-vegans alike, in a chorus of rave reviews. This is the cookbook Sam wishes she had when she went vegan: one that recreates and veganizes the dishes she loved most in her pre-vegan days, like fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon, cheesy jalapeño poppers and pizza pockets, creamy Caesar salad and macaroni and cheese, rich chocolate brownies and holiday-worthy pumpkin pie, to name just a few. (And there’s no hummus recipe in sight.) Say goodbye to searching endlessly around for that one special ingredient that you can't even pronounce, or cooking dishes that don’t deliver on their promise of yumminess; instead, say hello to ingredients you can pick up at your local grocery store, step-by-step techniques, and Sam’s enthusiastic voice cheering you on throughout this fun, approachable cookbook. With 101 tried-and-tested, one-of-a-kind vegan recipes for every meal, from breakfasts to lunches to dinners, and even snacks, desserts, appetizers and vegan staples, as well as handy menu plans and tips to amp up the recipes and your vegan life, Sam Turnbull and Fuss-Free Vegan are your ultimate guides in the new vegan kitchen.

"Simple, home-style food that brings comforting thoughts of home or childhood." That's comfort food. If you're an American Baby Boomer or Gen-Xer, chances are you and I are talking about the same dishes - pot roast, beef stew, meat loaf, chicken and dumplings, tuna casserole... But wait! you might reasonably object at this point, this is a VEGAN cookbook! Those foods are all meat! Don't vegans and vegetarians have to swear off American cuisine forever? Is it even possible to live as a vegan in the USA, and still eat any of the foods we grew up with? Yes it is! You did not exchange your credentials as an American for your "vegan ID card." You can be both. This cookbook will show you the way. The foods you remember from childhood, especially if you grew up in the 1970s or 1980s, are all here, recreated in a way that preserves their "comfort," but eliminates all animal products. This is guilt-free nostalgia at its best! THE RECIPES: Thick and Creamy Potato Double Corn Chowder N'Orleans Vegan Soyrizo Gumbo (I Can't Believe It's) NOT BEEF STEW! Now you can "Live like a vegan, but eat like an American!" with these 100% "veganized" all-American truck stop, diner, and lunch counter "Road Food" favorites! Try:Classic Western Egg SandwichThe Roadside RuebenWoolworths Lunch Counter Ham Salad SandwichJersey Diner Tuna MeltBacon Mushroom Swiss BurgerTexas Hot WienersThe All-American Blue Plate SpecialMeatloaf and Brown GravySalisbury SteakChicken Fried Steak with Southern White GravyAll re-created 100% vegan!"Meatless" Does Not Equal "Boring":Probably the biggest obstacle preventing most Americans, even those who feel powerfully drawn to the ethics of a meat-free lifestyle, from going vegetarian or full vegan is fear of the unknown. Will giving up meat mean I have to eat lettuce and bean sprouts all day? Isn't all vegan food super-expensive weird stuff you have to buy at a health food store? What about the meals I loved as a kid that I still love... Do I have to surrender everything...? I'll get bored! I can't do it!With this cookbook (or any cookbook by Felix and Carol Ann Whelan) in your hands, yes you can!Carol Ann and I grew up in the American Midwest during the 1970s, members of normal, Middle Class, meat-loving families, raised on a steady diet of good, old-fashioned all-American comfort food. "American cuisine" is in our genes, so when we first went vegetarian (each of us, individually, before we met) we had the same doubts any other red-blooded American would have at the thought of exchanging burgers and fried chicken, beef stew and pot roast, sloppy Joes and meatball sandwiches for "rabbit food"...But, as it turns out, that wasn't the bargain at all. The truth is that you can, in fact, live life as a vegan, but still eat like an American! This book will prove it to you.If you're not already vegetarian, we hope these recipes inspire you to take the plunge. If you're already vegetarian or vegan, we hope you'll cook these dishes for your carnivorous friends, and let them experience first hand that going meatless requires no sacrifice of flavor or food favorites at all!A Word About Meat Substitutes:This is a cookbook series focused on American Cuisine. American Cuisine is, almost by definition, "meat heavy." You can't just leave the meat out of most classic American dishes and reach the same result. "Pot roast" without the "roast" is just vegetables. Tasty vegetables in gravy, but still just vegetables. If that had the power to win anybody over, the whole world would have gone vegetarian a long time ago...So we turn to meat substitutes. All of the recipes in this cookbook call for one meat substitute or another, so as to keep them vegan, but still grant them their unique American appeal. Some recipes call for readily available commercial products, like Boca burgers and crumbles, or Yves brand veggie dogs. Others tell you how to create your own meat substitutes using tofu, chick peas, vital wheat gluten, etc. They way I see it, if people who think they can't live without the taste and texture of meat discover they can satisfy their cravings with plant-based substitutes, it makes embracing vegetarianism easier, and more and more people will do it. "Meat substitutes" will eventually become just "meat." In the future vegan world we are all working toward, no one will even remember that "meat" ever came from our animal friends. "Meat has always been a soy product, right...?"That's the dream, anyway. Help me make it a reality!

Audrey Dunham, the creator of Peanut's Bake Shop(R) Cookie Kits, has once again worked her cookie-making magic with a fun and festive book dedicated to one of the best activities of the holiday season-baking and enjoying Christmas cookies! This colorful, heartwarming cookbook includes decadent and delicious dairy-free and egg-free recipes for Christmas cookie classics, brownies, bars, treats, hot cocoas, winter lattes, homemade marshmallows, and so much more! Also included are recommendations on how to make each and every recipe gluten-free. Audrey Dunham is a vegan recipe creator who shares quick and easy yet super flavorful recipes on her website, AudreyDunham.com as well as on her Youtube channel: Youtube.com/AudreyDunham . She is the proud wife to comedian and ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham, mama to twin boys, and step-mama to three grown girls. Audrey loves holidays and LOVES baking Christmas cookies, especially if it's with her young twin boys, Jack and James! After going the vegan route, she didn't want to say farewell to all of her childhood cookie favorites, therefore she "veganized" the recipes and put them all in this beautifully designed book for others to enjoy, as well. With so many others needing or choosing a vegan, dairy-free diet and/or egg-free diet, she is proud to say that the recipes included in this cookbook, Vegan Christmas Cookies and Cocoa, are just as good (if not better!) than the traditional versions. This cookbook is loaded with bright and colorful photographs to help create inspiration and excitement for baking holiday goodies at Christmastime. It was important to Audrey that this book not only provide incredible recipes, but also create an experience for the reader as they turn each page. Each recipes includes a fun description, many of which share how that recipe is special to Audrey and her family. At the bottom of each recipe, bakers will also find recommendations on how to properly store each cookie or treat, as well as recommendations on how to make them gluten-free. Additionally, each recipe offers grams and milliliter measurements in addition to cups and spoons. Audrey understands that some vegan ingredients can be challenging to find, therefore she has created a list of some of the ingredients she uses regularly. That list can be found on AudreyDunham.com/Ingredients . You can find some of her favorite kitchen tools there, as well. Vegan Christmas Cookies and Cocoa is the perfect gift for those who enjoy baking goodies and sipping warm holiday drinks during the Christmas season.
