The commanding heights of genius in any field seem remote, but it is written: What man has done, man can do. THE AIKI SINGULARITY is an analytical probe into the common foundation of internal power conditioning that connects the unearthly martial skills of peerless Japanese martial arts phenomenon Sagawa Yukiyoshi (1902-1998) to the legendary internal masters of 19th century China. THE AIKI SINGULARITY deconstructs and reassembles the hidden energy that unites all internal martial arts training, and teaches radically simple experiential methods for understanding and maximizing the universal power. Key movements and essential insights from Tai Chi, Xing Yi, Daito Ryu Aiki-Jujutsu and other arts are assembled into three exceptionally effective regimens of internal conditioning. Each regimen consists of a primary drill and a cluster of related supplemental extensions that deepen and massively intensify the energy experience of each. The work is supported by voluminous references to the writings and teachings of legendary old-time masters of the internal arts. Is this an 'advanced' book? Yes and No. Yes - in the simple sense that some terminology from prior works is used - though everything is explained as needed here too. No - in the most important sense that you can do every drill in this book without any background in other materials, in fact, without any background in energy martial arts at all. The drills are profound in their effects but extremely simple, safe, and pleasant to perform. There are no long sequences of memorized movements, and the drills do not require a large practice space, a long time commitment, or any special equipment and clothing. They can be performed by anybody of any degree of athletic ability - including none whatsoever. But despite their simplicity and ease, they will develop your internal energy fundamentals more deeply, strongly and quickly than many full systems that require decades of expensive, onerous drudgery. This book will be a revelation for students of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Aikido, or Kung Fu and for anybody else who is seeking an adventure of inner exploration and power enhancement. Aikido goes beyond martial arts: it does not only resolve conflict in a constructive way but it also develops our intuition. It gives us an insight that changes old paradigms and transforms our current vision of the world, our mind and spirit, through the practice of harmonious universal movements developed by its Founder, Kaiso Sensei Morihei Ueshiba. It is through its physical training system that Aikido helps us to get the technology we need to improve our lives by using unity, confluence and harmony (Aiki). The way of Aiki is a path intended to prepare us to avoid destructive actions in order to find the value and possibilities it offers in order to develop an Aiki culture. This book presents basic information derived from the great masters teachings that might have been forgotten or neglected throughout the years of its expansion.

Ramified Integrals Singularities And Lacunas

This volume contains an introduction to the Picard--Lefschetz theory, which controls the ramification and qualitative behaviour of many important functions of PDEs and integral geometry, and its foundations in singularity theory. Solutions to many problems of these theories are treated. Subjects include the proof of multidimensional analogues of Newton's theorem on the nonintegrability of ovals; extension of the proofs for the theorems of Newton, Ivory, Arnold and Givental on potentials of algebraic surfaces. Also, it is discovered for which d and n the potentials of degree d hyperbolic surfaces in Rn are algebraic outside the surfaces; the equivalence of local regularity (the so-called sharpness), of fundamental solutions of hyperbolic PDEs and the topological Petrovskii--Atiyah--Bott--Gårding condition is proved, and the geometrical characterization of domains of sharpness close to simple singularities of wave fronts is considered; a `stratified' version of the Picard--Lefschetz formula is proved, and an algorithm enumerating topologically distinct Morsifications of real function singularities is given. This book will be valuable to those who are interested in integral transforms, operational calculus, algebraic geometry, PDEs, manifolds and cell complexes and potential theory.

The Physics Of Solids

This comprehensive text covers the basic physics of the solid state starting at an elementary level suitable for undergraduates but then advancing, in stages, to a graduate and advanced graduate level. In addition to treating the fundamental elastic, electrical, thermal, magnetic, structural, electronic, transport, optical, mechanical and compositional properties, we also discuss topics like superfluidity and superconductivity along with special topics such as strongly correlated systems, high-temperature superconductors, the quantum Hall effects, and graphene. Particular emphasis is given to so-called first principles calculations utilizing modern density functional theory which for many systems now allow accurate calculations of the electronic, magnetic, and thermal properties.

This book consists of eighteen articles in the area of `Combinatorial Matrix Theory' and `Generalized Inverses of Matrices'. Original research and expository articles presented in this publication are written by leading Mathematicians and Statisticians working in these areas. The articles contained herein are on the following general topics: `matrices in graph theory', `generalized inverses of matrices', `matrix methods in statistics' and `magic squares'. In the area of matrices and graphs, speci_c topics addressed in this volume include energy of graphs, q-analog, immanants of matrices and graph realization of product of adjacency matrices. Topics in the book from `Matrix Methods in Statistics' are, for example, the analysis of BLUE via eigenvalues of covariance matrix, copulas, error orthogonal model, and orthogonal projectors in the linear regression models. Moore-Penrose inverse of perturbed operators, reverse order law in the case of inde_nite inner product space, approximation numbers, condition numbers, idempotent matrices, semiring of nonnegative matrices, regular matrices over incline and partial order of matrices are the topics addressed under the area of theory of generalized inverses. In addition to the above traditional topics and a report on CMTGIM 2012 as an appendix, we have an article on old magic squares from India.

The Ethics Of A Potential Urbanism

The Ethics of a Potential Urbanism explores the possible and potential relevance of Giorgio Agamben’s political thoughts and writings for the theory and the practice of architecture and urban design. It sketches out the potentiality of Agamben’s politics, which can affect change in current architectural and design discourses. The book investigates the possibility of an inoperative architecture, as an ethical shift for a different practice, just a little bit different, but able to deactivate the sociospatial dispositive and mobilize a new theory and a new project for the urban now to come. This particular reading from Agamben’s oeuvre suggests a destituent mode of both thinking and practicing of architecture and urbanism that could possibly redeem them from their social emptiness, cultural irrelevance, economic reductionism and proto-avant-garde extravagance, contributing to a renewed critical ‘encounter’ with architecture’s aesthetic-political function.
