The purpose of this mixed-method investigation was to study what teachers at Lakeview Regional High School know about 21st instructional practices. This study used both qualitative and quantitative data gathered from administrator and teacher surveys, administrator interviews and teacher focus groups to assess teachers familiarity with 21st century skills, to determine the extent to which they are employing 21st and strategies in their classes, and to identify the factors that tend to encourage or discourage them from altering their instructional practices. In order to gain a better understanding of teachers awareness and application of 21st century teaching and learning concepts and to identify the factors that both encourage and discourage teachers to change, the following four research questions were developed to guide this study: (1) To what extent are teachers familiar with the skills students will need to be prepared to live and work in the 21st teachers employing effective strategies and practices that support learning in the 21st Which factors encourage teachers to alter their instructional practice to better coincide with the 21st teaching and learning philosophy? (4) Which factors discourage teachers from altering their instructional practice to better coincide with the 21st The findings revealed that teachers are becoming more familiar with 21st and though not all teachers feel equally prepared to teach these new skills and concepts to their students, they are increasingly employing effective strategies and practices that support learning in the 21st This study also found that teachers are strongly motivated to change when they believe the changes will directly benefit students in the classroom and when they receive positive support from leadership.
