3 lectures, Dornach, May 1920 (CW 74) Steiner begins these three lectures by depicting the background of early Christian thought, from which scholastic philosophers arose. He focuses on the "unanswered question" of the scholastic movement: How can human thinking be made Christlike and develop toward a vision of the spiritual world? A study of subsequent European thought, especially that of Kant, leads to the possibility of deepening into spiritual perception the scientific thinking that arose from scholasticism. Steiner explains that, since the beginning of the twentieth century, this is true Christianity. On the Spirit and the Self: The Religious Art of Marc Chagall compliments and extends the scholarship surrounding Chagall’s place in the History of 20th Century Art as a Religious artist. Central to this study is the psychic process of individuation and the ways in which images appear to depict the deeper changes in our collective human existence. A new perspective on Chagall’s creative output is presented through the application of Jungian theory: Jung identifies a separation between the cultural and historical underpinnings of natal faith, or creed, and the presence of an internal, personal spirituality, or religious attitude. This theoretical approach helps to define Chagall’s creative connection to his own natal Hasidic faith whilst clarifying the interiority of his religious experiences on a universal level. That creative development may be explored through the visual patterns of sacred transformative imagery is a new approach in Chagallian scholarship, elevating two key concepts: the Chagallian sacred-secular binary, and the Chagallian temenos sites. Primary source materials reflecting the Artist’s voice are illuminated by more than seventy colour reproductions to support the perspective that, like Jung, Chagall was among the most prolific and significant religious communicators of the 20th Century.

As a young child of the Oglala Lakota Sioux, Black Elk had been given a mighty vision which would lead him on a personal journey that lasted his entire life. Although Black Elk's vision was a prophetic message telling the terrible future of his tribe, it also held positive aspects that must be reclaimed. It is through this reclamation that the guiding beacons given to him reveal an ancient pathway woven into the images of the West. By exploring Black Elk's eyewitness account of the crucial events of that time, the author discovered a series of metaphorical footprints that show us the way toward inner strength and a balanced life...125 years later. To help with an interpretation of Black Elk's account, the author invoked the insight of Joseph Campbell, one of the world's foremost authorities on societal ideologies. Through his understanding of symbol and metaphor Campbell was able to examine the metaphorical footprints and provide us with a twenty-first century "spin" that a simple man generations before could only imagine. This book offers a new look at Black Elk's footprints and together with the insight of Joseph Campbell, presents an inward path to the positive forces within each of us, waiting for discovery. References to cards of the Tarot deck, a means of progression on the inner journey, have long been noted in it; but Don Quixote and the Brilliant Name of Fire will show their full extent, as well as demonstrating spectacular visual representations of Hebrew letters of the Qabalah, and the strict allegory of psychic transformationin the way of the Shakespeare playsin which these symbols have their place. The close kinship of Don Quixote and the Shakespeare First Folio becomes plain, and their origin in a common author, neither Will Shakespeare nor Cervantes. www.thegreatpesher.com

We all, as children, saw imaginary friends and heard monsters in the closet. But for Suzan Saxman, those friends and monsters didn't go away—and they weren't imaginary. They were the dead who came to her from the time she was a little girl with urgent messages for the living. Raised in a house filled with secrets, she saw and spoke the truth as soon as she could talk, alarming the nuns in her convent school with her revelations and terrifying her own mother with her strange visions. Each night she woke to see a man with no eyes watching her, and each day she kept watch by the window while her father was at work and Steve, her real father, a swarthy drifter, rendezvoused with her mother. It was the 1960s in suburban Staten Island and she tried to hide it all, and be a daughter her mother could love. Always skeptical of her tremendous gift, she struggled to come to terms with her calling even as she revealed the destinies of everyone, from housewives to hit men, stockbrokers to rock-and-rollers. She could witness everyone's future—everyone's but her own. Why was she visited by angels and demons? Could she ever escape this strange fate? Where was her own soul mate? Now Suzan tells the story of her journey and tries to make sense of her family's buried secrets. Through powerful readings of others' destinies interwoven with compelling narrative, a reluctant psychic emerges from the shadows.

The Dialectics Of Synthetic Attraction

THE DIALECTICS OF SYNTHETIC ATTRACTION picks up from where 'The Classless Solution' (2004) left off, and does so in considerably more detail and with greater confidence in the veracity of its contentions, with a consequence that we have, for the first time, a post-Marxian and even supra-Marxist dialectics which does more justice to the historical process than Marx, with his narrowly economic take on things, ever did. Not a work to be underestimated!
