Content through contact between landscapes and artworks, bodies and weather conditions, light and darkness. Over the years, Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson (b. Copenhagen, 1967; lives and works in Berlin and Copenhagen) has continually returned to Iceland to investigate its landscape with his camera. The ambitious, ongoing venture--almost cartographical in its scope--has resulted in approximately eighty photo series to date, and a wealth of individual photographs of glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, volcanoes, and caves. Far from merely documenting the terrain, Eliasson's vibrant images reflect on our relationship to nature, the physical space in which we exist, and the body's felt motion through the space--central concerns in his oeuvre. Alongside Eliasson's photographs, this lavishly designed book in large format presents a selection of further works by the artist, granting the reader a glimpse into the process of inspiration leading from physical experience to abstraction. The sequence of images, curated by Eliasson himself, traces the intuitive connections between the landscape and the different modes of expression employed by the artist.

Renowned Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson engages the broader public sphere through architectural projects and interventions in civic space. For his site-specific exhibition at the Marciano Art Foundation, the artist conceived of a seemingly simple yet complex installation: using projected light and the existing architecture of the museum, he would create a dynamic shadow play referencing both the city's history of filmmaking and the gallery's former function as a theater. Published on the occasion of this exhibition, Olafur Eliasson: Reality Projector documents Eliasson's transformation of the space into an abstract, three-dimensional film featuring a unique soundtrack made in collaboration with Icelandic musician and sound artist Jónsi. This recent work continues the artist's interests in perception, movement, embodied experience and feelings of self.

Studio Olafur Eliasson - Open House is one of Eliasson's contributions to the Venice Biennale 2017 This beautifully bound and printed artist?s book is the seventh volume in the studio's TYT [Take Your Time] series. Edited in collaboration with the independent curator Joanna Warsza, this self-portrait of the studio gives an idea of how Eliasson's artworks are made and thought about before they enter museums, collections, public space, and the world. In doing so, the publication reverses the relationship between final artworks and artistic processes and includes conversations with many members of the studio team, texts by friends of the studio, and quotes from texts and books that inspire the studio?s current research.

Olafur Eliasson's take on Louisiana is radical, fascinating and unique. The central work in the first solo exhibition at the museum by the Danish-Icelandic artist is a huge, sitespecific project that reverses the relation between nature and art. The transitions between inside and outside, culture and staged nature, become fluid and transitory - and the progress of the visitor through the museum becomes a central issue. Eliasson's exhibition is an enhancement of our gaze at the museum, at ourselves and at the world. Olafur Eliasson's exhibition at Louisiana engages with the museum's unique identity. The exhibition consists of three sections that each thematize the encounter between Eliasson's art and Louisiana as a place. The central work, Riverbed (2014), is based on the unique connection between nature, architecture and art that characterizes the museum. Transforming the entire South Wing into a rocky landscape, Eliasson focuses on inhabiting space in a new way and inserts new patterns of movement into the museum. Exhibition: Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek, Denmark (20.08.2014-04.01.2015).

With its exposed spine stitching and variety of paper stocks, this survey of Olafur Eliasson's very rarely seen artist's books elevates his work in bookmaking to the status of his better-known projects, such as his New York waterfalls, and is indeed an artist's book in itself. Printed Matter closely examines 25 of Eliasson's books dating back to 1997, and reveals a whole oeuvre of artist's books--57 titles in all--that will come as a revelation to those who may not closely identify the artist with this medium. Eliasson's exhibition catalogues are always designed with pronounced care, and many are already long out of print or hard to find. Here, in spreads and thorough annotations, we encounter his considered musings on book form and design, and the complex process of book collaboration. Printed Matter also supplies a bibliography of all of Eliasson's books to date, alongside an interview with the artist.

Olafur Eliasson: Reality machines was conceived and designed by Irma Boom, one of the world's most celebrated graphic designers, to bring to life in book form the artwork and ideas of Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. The exhibition catalogue - published by Moderna Museet and Koenig Books on the occasion of the exhibition Verklighetsmaskiner / Reality machines, at Moderna Museet in Stockholm - takes the form of an artist's book in which essays and images interact with tactile papers and transparent films. Eliasson's diverse artworks - in sculpture, painting, photography, film, and installations - have been exhibited widely throughout the world. His art is driven by a deep interest in perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self, and by his conviction that art offers a crucial means for turning thinking into doing in the world. Not limited to the confines of the museum and gallery, his practice engages the broader public sphere through architectural projects and interventions in civic space. This catalogue features illuminating essays by Timothy Morton, philosopher and specialist in ecology and object-oriented ontology, and Matilda Olof-Ors, curator at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, as well as a conversation between Eliasson and Daniel Birnbaum, director of Moderna Museet. Anders Sune Berg's installation photography presents vivid views of the exhibition Verklighetsmaskiner / Reality machines at Moderna Museet.

As part of its BMW H2R research project, Studio Olafur Eliasson is preparing a dense publication comprising extensive visual material; excerpts from two seminars held in 2006/07; and conversations between Olafur Eliasson and a number of distinguished thinkers, such as architect and artist Yona Friedman, urban theorist Bart Lootsma, and Head of Design BMW Christopher Bangle. In the research project, Eliasson raises questions of formgiving and materiality, mobility, temporality, movement, and renewable energy. The aim is not so much to examine the car as object, as to integrate the vehicle in a complex set of social, historical, political, and economic relations. In 2005 a BMW H2R hydrogen-powered vehicle was delivered to Studio Olafur Eliasson and then stripped bare of its outer shell. To create a new skin several form studies have been carried out in a temporary geodesic dome, constructed in the yard of the studio. The final surface of the car consists of layers of ice, frozen around two intricate nets, mirrored plates and light. The a oeClimate cara can only exist in a microclimate with a temperature of minus 6 degrees Celsius or below.

Olafur Eliassona (TM)s large-scale installations addressing aspects of human perception are as fascinating as they are unsettling. Eliasson believes that art is a practice through which vital aspects of society and life may be examined, challenged, and renegotiated. Cultural practices such as art are not driven by capitalistic values, but operate through reflection on the values that define sociality, on the way that experience and ethics are intertwined, and ultimately on how subjectivity is defined. Eliassona (TM)s interest in architecture, space, time, and art thus comes from a fundamental interest in human beings and in our potential to re-evaluate the conditions that determine or influence our sense of subjectivity. Eliasson explores these aspects of his work in this volume which documents in detail three exhibitions: Your Light Shadow, Hara Museum, Tokyo; Notion Motion, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, and The light setup, MalmA, Konsthall. This volume also contains a seminal text by the artist.

The first major new overview of Eliasson in more than ten years engages with the artist's ongoing interest in finding visionary shapes for abstract ideas. This richly illustrated publication presents a spectacular journey through spheres, tunnels, towers, walkways and archways, as well as pavilions and larger buildings realized by Eliasson and his studio since the late 1990s. Binding the spiralling dynamic of these works together are essays by renowned writers across a variety of fields - from geologists and historians of art and science to architects, artists and philosophers. Each work is presented through in-depth project descriptions, and complemented by Eliasson's own words. Produced in close collaboration with the artist and his studio, this special volume will attract collectors, art students and designers of all disciplines

Olafur Eliasson (b. Copenhagen, 1967; lives and works in Berlin and Copenhagen) is a visual artist whose critically acclaimed solo shows have appeared in major museums around the world since 1997. In his studio, established in 1995, Eliasson works with a team of craftsmen, architects, geometers, and art historians; as a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, he has run the Institut fur Raumexperimente (Institute for Spatial Experiments), an innovative model for art education, since April 2009. Eliasson's practice is characterised by incessant exploration of our modes of perceiving. His works, described by the artist as "experiemental setups," span photography, installation, sculpture, film, major projects in public space, and architectural works. His oeuvre often bridges art and science. Exploring human perception, Eliasson has conceived iconic works that invite the viewer to engage with their surroundings, a process the artist has described as "seeing yourself sensing." The book is published on occasion of the exhibition at the Monchehaus Museum and the awarding of the Kaiserring of the city of Goslar.
