Take my life or change it, Milta Velez declared to a God she had just met. With this statement, she challenged God while standing at the altar with a gun in her purse. She grew up in Manhattan at a time when womens liberation was born. She sought her identity in the nightclubs of New York. With five disastrous relationships, she was following in the footsteps of the Samaritan woman when Jesus touched her and saved her life. Tired and desperate, she surrendered to Jesus. During her walk with God, she struggled with the conversion of being a Christian because she didnt believe in miracles, until the day she decided to put Jesus to the test. Her first granted miracle enabled her to purchase her first home without any credit or collateral. Milta soon discovered that anything is possible in the name of Jesus. And that a dreamer in the hands of God can accomplish great things. Milta sets an example of what one can accomplish when one surrenders their hopelessness to God. Today she owns a travel agency, a restaurant, and the property.

In her autobiography, My Walk With God, the author, D. M. Scales, talks about many things. Foremost, she talks about her life and growing up in the South during the oppressive "sixties era."Basically, this was during the civil rights movement, which was a product of inequality along with Jim Crow and "Brown v. Board of Education." Importantly, this was when many blacks wanted to obtain equality. Here, this writer talks about how being black and poverty stricken during the "dark sixties," posed serious problems for her as a youngster. Typically, educated as well as uneducated black Americans were subservient to Jim Crow laws. In contrast, in our society today, blacks have now become better educated, but this writer alludes "not much has changed." The expression "not much has changed" is further exemplified for the reader throughout this autobiography. Drew exemplifies this when she says oppression and discrimination both existed during the sixties, and in the Jim Crow era and yet cohabitates in our society today.

Our walk with God is a journey of learning who He is and the responsibility that we have to bring glory to Him. As we mature in our walk with God, we learn that a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ is what the Christian experience is all about. "Postcards from My Walk with God" includes twenty-four simple but powerful messages-consider them as one friend sharing her "travels" with another-that provide encouragement and wisdom for navigating the Christian road. You will be challenged to take responsibility in building God's kingdom, and you will spot some of your own experiences and how to learn from them. Personal accountability questions at the end of each chapter allow you to journal your thoughts as you progress. Living the Christian life requires growth and maturity if your faith is to survive in these times, and it can be difficult to know where to look for encouragement. My life with Christ has been such a blessed journey. I am able to see what God’s plan was for my life and not my own plans. I wanted other people to know that Father God is a personal God, and he really wants us to trust him with our lives, get to know him, spend time with him, and build a relationship with him. He is so faithful. I pray that you see how God worked in my life, and that this builds your faith.

From Stroke to Recovery: My Walk with God is the story about a 51 year old active, independent, healthy Christian woman who was doing what she loved. She was running an art business and working with a travel company. On October 8, 2008 she suffered a massive stroke and her life would change forever. The word recovery represents not just getting back her physical body but obtaining the things she would need to get her life back. She tells of her miraculous recovery and her faith and trust in God knowing that he would get her through the many challenges she would face to get the aid and assistance that she had worked many years for. It was through her determination and perseverance that she continued to endure until she obtained everything she needed to make her whole again. This book will provide insight into the process of recovery and help others avoid the unnecessary pit falls that kept her from obtaining what she needed to get her life back. The key to a successful recovery is you. You must have the desire, courage and will to get better. Your attitude must always be of gratefulness. You must be motivated to do what you are told to do. You must accept your new life, always remembering how blessed you are to be alive. Finally, recovery can not be done alone; you must believe in God and stay in his word daily.
