"The purpose of this workbook is to help children better understand their feelings, and practice strategies for dealing with those feelings in a socially appropriate manner. This book is written for elementary school age children, but may be of use for those younger or older. In so many books and studies I have read about children and adults with mental health problems, there is a strong tie between an inability to manage emotions and problems with day to day functioning. My desire with this workbook is to help all children build more resilience to life's problems by better understanding their own emotions and responding to those emotions in healthy and adaptive ways. This book should be particularly helpful for those children with a mental health diagnosis. ... In using this book, help the child understand that feelings are an emotional response to stimulus, and it's very hard, if not impossibe, to change those initial feelings. What a child can learn to do, however, is manage the resulting behavior. In other words, while it is acceptable to be angry, it is not acceptable to act destructively because of that anger."--Page [1].

An extraordinary, powerful connection exists between feeling and feeding that, if damaged, may lead to one relying on food for emotional support, rather than seeking authentic happiness. This unique workbook takes on the seven emotions that plague problem eaters — guilt, shame, helplessness, anxiety, disappointment, confusion, and loneliness — and shows readers how to embrace and learn from their feelings. Written with honesty and humor, the book explains how to identify and label a specific emotion, the function of that emotion, and why the emotion drives food and eating problems. Each chapter has two sets of exercises: experiential exercises that relate to emotions and eating, and questionnaires that provoke thinking about and understanding feelings and their purpose. Supplemental pages help readers identify emotions and chart emotional development. The final part of the workbook focuses on strategies for disconnecting feeling from food, discovering emotional triggers, and using one’s feelings to get what one wants out of life.

Are you haunted by awful memories of your past? Two years ago I was diagnosed with depression and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I suffered from anxiety, different fears, nasty feelings (especially sadness and anger), flashbacks and re-experiencing my traumas. I also used to experience plenty of stress, irritability, feelings of guilt, memory problems, sleeping problems and changes in mood. I tried to avoid these nasty experiences and to forget my bad memories but it did not help. My efforts were in vain. My traumas were caused by different traumatic events with were full of violence, physical and emotional abuse, aggression, emotional blackmail, bullying and mobbing (pestering). Most of these events happened during my childhood. For some time I have been treated by a psychologist, who applied several cures like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As I was not satisfied with my progress, I developed and employed a successful self-help treatment to recover from psychological traumas and PTSD. I named it Mindfulness Based Trauma Treatment (MBTT). In my self-help workbook I describe step by step my treatment method based on the experiences with my own traumas. Mindfulness Based Trauma Treatment (MBTT) consists of elements from Mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Buddhism and Psychology. I have succeeded in healing more than 100 different traumas using MBTT. I’m changed. I do not suffer from anxiety, fears, nasty feelings, flashbacks and other things any more. They’re all gone. I can recall my traumas without experiencing nasty emotions, fears and stress. They do not bother me anymore. Now I’m able to experience positive feelings again, such as happiness and love. This workbook is a supplement to the book, "The Journey from "I-TO-WE"." It encompasses the 23-step, comprehensive "Create an Emotionally Intelligent Relationship" program developed to help individuals and couples achieve relationship success at home, at work and within themselves. I highly recommend that both you and your partner have your own personal copy of the workbook. I also advise reading each corresponding chapter in the book twice before you begin the workbook exercises. The book offers in-depth conceptual descriptions of the ideas and principles behind the "Create an Emotionally Intelligent Relationship" program along with vignettes that detail a story of a fictional couple composed from people I have coached over the years. The combined elements convey each concept, skill and technique. A comprehensive program is contained within the book and workbook. The exercises will challenge you to face your fears and stretch beyond your comfort zone. You will examine many aspects of yourself, your partner, and your relationship in a way you have never done before. You will be asked to be vulnerable, empathetic, courageous, and honest, and to accept absolute personal responsibility for your words, actions, and behaviors. Working together and valuing this program is critical. You cannot succeed if you agree to participate in this journey without wholeheartedly being committed. If you take shortcuts or hold back, you will cheat your partner, your relationship and yourself. The more you put in, the more you will gain. Aim to give 101% of yourself and enjoy the full benefit of the program. Remember, it takes two to "Create an Emotionally Intelligent Relationship."
