Karen initially believed that her interest and curiosity in the new age realm would lead her to a full recovery or cure from Multiple Sclerosis. What she discovered was how her relationships played a key role in her mental, physical, and spiritual health. It began by ending friendships that were or never were healthy in the first place. She then discovered that it was not only the unhealthy friendships but it carried over to intimate relationships and professional relationships with her clients as well as other collegues. When she wanted to know why she had attracted so many people in her life that did not reflect her integrity her Homeopathic team placed Karen on a journey of self discovery. She began to realize that this pattern of relationships stemmed from the first relationships she made with her parents particularly her mother. She started to notice the significance of her relationship with her mother when she began the writing process of this book. Having all the intention of filling the pages with Alternative Health care Professionals, instead, she found herself writing about her mother. Prior to writing her book she read another book which was a guide for beginner writers and she knew she had to finish writing her thoughts on paper before she could continue as she thought, to write about Practitioners. However, Karen couldnt stop writing about her mother but continued to write and found that the writing process became very healing for her. This new journey became the source of what healing from Multiple Sclerosis was all about for Karen. What she gained from the result of her relationship with her mother was to learn to love herself. Once she did that she was able to break through her chrysalis and transform into a beautiful, spiritually-healed woman.

Scientific research indicates that the DNA encoded within each cell in our body has important implications about who we are on more levels than our physical characteristics. As we read about Karimu Shaw's journey-its physical, mental, and spiritual aspects-we become witnesses to the truth that there are ancient memories alive within our DNA at the cellular level, and in the "inner space" of our soul. Perhaps it was Karimu's beloved ancestors, speaking directly into his spirit-soul who, early in his life, implanted within him the seed desire to have DNA testing. Karimu's heart longed for "home," that part of us that is beneath the surface of our existence while being a reflection of it. Each step on his outer path home became a steppingstone to his inner Self, to his acquaintanceship with the Whole of who he is. In that same way, may Radiant Truths be a blessing to all of its readers. Michael Bernard Beckwith founder, Agape International Spiritual Center author of Life Visioning

From Relational Hurt to Spiritual Healing is inspired by my personal journey with dating, love, and relationships. It is an introspective look at how my/our toxic thoughts, habits, and beliefs have contributed to the development poisonous relationships; and how poisonous relationships have also influenced my/our thoughts, habits, and beliefs. This Devotional Journey from a Broken Soul to Soul Mate, tells about the progressive change that occurs in building healthier relationship with self and with others, as a result of building a healthier relationship between self and God. I have spent years searching for intimacy, acceptance, connection, and genuine love. My search has taken me on an expedition through pain and happiness, joy and heart aches. The hurt and fear that I carried from relationship to relationship was buried so deeply that it took years for me to realize that much of the hurt that I put others through was a reflection of my own anguish. As I began to develop a more intimate connection with my Creator I began to understand what true love is and how my method of searching for love and intimacy in the past was totally off track. With this book I journal my transition from being a broken soul that has been effected by relational hurt and toxic connections with others; to an individual that is faithfully moving towards my soul mate by becoming spiritually healed, emotionally mended and mentally immovable through my beliefs in Godly principles

As I was being rushed to the hospital staring at three of my severed fingers floating in ice water, I couldn’t believe what just happened. At age twenty-four, I was pretty, thin, and working as a line cook among Hollywood’s elite. I was about to get married, but it all came to a screeching halt in 1980, when I severed three of my fingers in an industrial Cuisinart in the kitchen where I worked. I describe my journey through the most difficult time of my life: suffering from anorexia and living with a disability. How could my life continue after losing three of my precious fingers, and on my right hand, no less? Miraculously, I pulled myself out of anorexia by finally seeing my body as it really was. I began to slowly heal, though it took almost thirty-one more years. I read self-help books, recited affirmations, and began to seriously search for the missing piece of my heart. This is my account of being a woman in a male-dominated industry, complete with a complicated relationship with food and a man, resulting in a long self-destructive streak. I have been cooking for thirty-eight years professionally, including an apprenticeship in 1980 with Wolfgang Puck, ultimately becoming his head chef at Spago, Sunset. “I can’t wait to read anything that she writes.” – Marc Vetri, Philadelphia restaurateur, named one of the Top Ten Chefs in America
