With the help of Steph’s younger sister Jasmine, they come up with a plan to promote Steph’s music under a new rap name: the Architect. Soon, everyone wants a piece of him. When his demo catches the attention of a hotheaded music label rep, the trio must prove Steph’s talent from beyond the grave. As the pressure of keeping their secret grows, Quadir, Jarrell, and Jasmine are forced to confront the truth about what happened to Steph. Only, each has something to hide. And with everything riding on Steph’s fame, they need to decide what they stand for or lose all that they’ve worked so hard to hold on to—including each other.

Is Your Job Making You “Stupid”? Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, once wrote that a person who spends his life performing the same repetitive tasks “generally becomes as stupid and ignorant as it is possible for a human creature to become.” Wow! Now that’s not a pretty picture. Unfortunately, much of our work today consists of those boring, repetitive tasks. But maybe you’re one of the many who have gotten caught up in thinking work is just something you do to support your weekends. Work is that necessary evil, a means to an end, or just a curse from God. You probably take your role of providing for yourself and those depending on you seriously. But you don’t expect to enjoy your work—you just do what has to be done. Only now you’re seeing that even loyalty and dependability bring no guarantees. Lately you’ve seen coworkers who have been let go after years of faithful service. Perhaps your entire industryhas been shaken by outsourcing or changing technology. Maybe you’re tired of the long commute and being tied to your desk when you know you could make your own hours and still be productive. You may have ideas stirring that you think could create new income and time freedom. But here comes another Monday. Maybe feeling trapped is just the reality of the way things are. Doesn’t everyone dread Mondays? Doesn’t every responsible person just bury their dreams and passions in exchange for getting a paycheck? Absolutely not! All of us, no matter how old we are or what kind of work we’re doing, can learn to bring the same excitement to our jobs that we bring to whatever we love to do on our days off. I believe that each one of us can pursue work that is a reflection of our best selves—a true fulfillment of our callings. No More Mondays will show you that meaningful work really is within your grasp. And once you’ve opened the door and seen all the exciting career opportunities that await you—whether you decide to revolutionize your current job or launch a new career altogether—you’ll find you can’t go back to the old way of working.” From No More Mondays For everyone who dreads going to work on Monday mornings, inspiring advice on how to find fulfilling work in an uncertain age. Do you hate Mondays? If so, what's keeping you at your current job? If you said a steady paycheck and the promise of a secure retirement, then you're in for a big disappointment. In today's volatile economy, there is nothing safe about punching the clock for a job you hate. As beloved talk-show host and bestselling author Dan Miller reveals, the only way to find true security is by following your calling and then finding or creating work that matches that calling and passion. No More Mondays’s practical, inspirational advice speaks to people looking for guidance on how to launch a new career or business, those who want to stay in their current jobs and give the old 9-to-5 model a twenty-first-century makeover, and managers desperate to understand the way people want to work today. For all of them, Dan Miller's message is loud and clear: If you're one of those people who dread going to work on Mondays, do something about it!

As this book takes us on an eye-opening journey into the nation's school kitchens, the author offers an assessment of school food in the United States. She reveals the forces that determine how lunch is served, such as the financial troubles of schools, the commercialization of childhood, and the reliance on market models. The author explores the deep politics of food provision from multiple perspectives including history, policy, nutrition, environmental sustainability, taste, and more. How did our children end up eating nachos, pizza, and Tater Tots for lunch? How did we get into the absurd situation in which nutritionally regulated meals compete with fast food items and snack foods loaded with sugar, salt, and fat? What is the nutritional profile of the federal meals? How well are they reaching students who need them? Opening a window onto our culture as a whole, she concludes with a vision for change: fresh, healthy food for all children as a regular part of their school day.

Alec Reed, founder of the internationally successful Reed Employment and its sister company Reed Executive, is now in his late seventies but still a dynamic and imposing figure, with an engaging personality that conceals his shrewd flair for business. From humble beginnings, he seized every opportunity that offered, clawing his way up from working on a milk round, to drudgery as a City office boy, until he had his first big break when Gillette took him on as a management trainee. This is his remarkable story. Building on his early success with employment and recruitment agencies, he was able to develop his charitable interests - his first such venture was with drug addicts in Covent Garden in the 1960s, leading eventually to the establishment of the Alec Reed Foundation in 1989. Since then it has donated more than 18 million to good causes, and it supports many other charities including the Royal Opera House in London. This eagerly awaited autobiography is both an enjoyable account of a richly varied life and an inspirational insight into an exceptionally successful entrepreneur's imagination.

A Month Of Mondays

Jake Monday hates Mondays more than any other day of the week. This Monday may just be the beginning of his new life. He is haunted by his loss of memory. He is targeted by the company he betrayed. Most men would run. Jake goes straight into the maw of the dragon. A Month of Mondays opens a new chapter in the life of Jake Monday, the vaunted assassin of the Galbraith Alliance. Jake meets friends he forgot he had and enemies he thought were friends. When Jake finally confronts his past, he learns that perhaps he was not the man he thought he was. Jake questions his own motives. Why was he on that lawn prepared to kill the most powerful man on earth? And, who would have benefited most if he had succeeded? FROM THE AUTHOR A Month of Mondays is the second installment of a 7-part series of novellas. The Jake Monday Chronicles will also be included in two volumes of collected works: The Monday Collection, Volumes One and Volume Two. So, whether you enjoy your series one installment at a time, or you like to read a longer work, we have you covered. The Monday Collection, Volume One contains Manic Monday, A Month of Mondays, and Thank God it's Monday. All these installments are also available to purchase separately if you wish. The Monday Collection, Volume Two will be released in the fourth quarter of 2014 and will include the final four parts of the Jake Monday saga: Rainy Days and Monday (March 2014), Can't Wait for Monday (May 2014), Mad Mad Monday (July 2014), and Monday Bloody Monday (September 2014). I get the question from time-to-time: what inspired you to write this story? With Jake Monday, my inspiration came from a multitude of sources. Authors like Ludlum, LeCarre, Fleming, and Follet come to mind. Also, I enjoy watching series on television: "Alias," "Heroes," "Lost," "Supernatural," "The X-Files," and "Hannibal." All of these have elements that influenced my writing. The Jake Monday Chronicles began in 2003 when I wrote a short story about an assassin named Jake Monday. I had no plans, really, but I had a sentence running through my head. The sentence that launched this series began: "Jake Monday hated Mondays more than any other day of the week." The idea that a high-profile assassin would be unhappy, unsatisfied, and struggling with his past and future, is not unique. I wanted to explore new areas of this theme. I thought of family, of a past hidden, of the moral challenge of an individual that finds himself caught in a massive global conspiracy while grappling with the choices he has made, willingly or not. So, Jake Monday is my Jason Bourne. Hallie is my Sidney Bristow (from Alias). My villains...well, they are all my own. I love to draw villains who are deep, believable, and scary. Not because they always represent the antithesis of the hero, but just the opposite: my villains are not much different than all of us. I do not believe in "grey areas," but I do believe the line between good and evil can be narrow. One wrong move and even someone like Jake Monday can be heading in the wrong direction.
