MG was a home-grown concept that became an international success, bringing the small market town of Abingdon onto the global map. MG - Made in Abingdon recounts the inside story of the famous factory, recognising that the most important aspect of MGs success was its team – the tea-boys and girls, the shop floor workers, the engineers and racers, the apprentices and management. From memories of the production line to recollections of racing incidents, the untold story of MG from the men and women who worked in the Abingdon factory is revealed for the first time in this fascinating, historical account.

The first MG cars were produced in Oxford, England, in 1924. The car was instantly appealing, with a cheekiness of spirit that would characterize the marque all of its life, winning the hearts of millions around the globe, not least in the United States. The price was as attractive as the styling and the performance. It was cheap and it was fun, quintessential MG traits.

The main subject of the book is best stated in a quote from C. S. Lewis: "Often we need not so much to be taught as to be reminded." As I said in the Foreword, "How many times over the years I have reached for a scrap of paper or underlined a passage or quotation in a book, noting something that seemed wise and useful. However, as I review my notes, I frequently come upon some guideline to positive thought or behavior that I have simply let drift from my memory and have neglected to practice." The remedy? That is the purpose of this book: to summarize, briefly enough for quick and regular review, words of wisdom I have found important enough to remember.
