Let children experience the learning power of play—together! Let's All Play provides all-new adventures that support children's social skill development through thoughtful group play, interaction, and conversation. These play experiences help children engage with each other and the world around them, all of which leads to rich learning. This book also encourages adults to reflect on the value of children's play through deep thinking activities. Let's All Play builds on the early learning principles presented in Jeff A. Johnson and Denita Dinger's first book together, Let Them Play, and the open-ended learning adventures in their second book, Let's Play.

Praise for 1 - 2 Let's All Play: "What appears on the surface to be a children's rhythm game book, is, in actuality, a powerful tool that, when utilized, not only teaches young kids rhythmical and musical abilities and appreciation, but implants foundational experiences in children that will enhance their personal relationship abilities and self-esteem for the rest of their lives. Being befriended and mentored over the years by both Lulu Leathley and Mary Knysh--each of them powerhouses of community rhythmical caregiving in their own right--I expect any book that they publish would be a wonderful addition to our mission of community rhythmical empowerment. In particular, the collaborative effort that they have put into 1 - 2 Let's All Play has created an extraordinarily "keep it simple" way to guide a group of children into the depths and bliss of interactive rhythmical expression. In this book, 1 - 2 Let's All Play, Lulu and Mary have made rhythmical evangelism for children so easy, that even parents can do it. Share your spirit with 1 - 2 Let's All Play." --Arthur Hull, Rhythm Facilitation pioneer, motivational trainer, founder of Village Music Circles, and author of Drum Circle Facilitation and Drum Circle Spirit

There is no better authority on jazz than the creators, educators, and writers who have made this enigmatic musical style a major force internationally as well as in American history. The answer to the question what is jazz? is as complex and diverse as those involved in it. This book takes the question to noted musicians, scholars, and composers, creating a documentary style of oral history that makes you feel as if you are actually in the room as they put the sounds they know as music into words. The ideas from these authentic, personal voices of authority provide a unique perspective that will enlighten the novice and stimulate the professional. Ron Carter, Bassist-Because they are improvising does not necessarily mean that it is jazz Buddy Rich,Drums-Trane to Bird, Diz to Miles, all in the family of jazz, just different children. Ray Charles, Singer/Pianist-Jazz is the freedom to do what you want within the confines of the chord structure. Milt Jackson, Vibraphonist-"The era of bebop represents jazz to me. Chet Baker, Trumpet-Paris Jazz is a hard swinging rhythm section with everybody playing with the same time feeling.

This book does not tell a story. Instead, it is about stories. Or rather, in technical terms, it is about scenarios. Scenarios of system behavior. It con centrates on reactive systems, be they software or hardware, or combined computer-embedded systems, including distributed and real-time systems. We propose a different way to program such systems, centered on inter object scenario-based behavior. The book describes a language, two tech niques, and a supporting tool. The language is a rather broad extension of live sequence charts (LSCs), the original version of which was proposed in 1998 by W. Damm and the first-listed author of this book. The first of the two techniques, called play-in, is a convenient way to 'play in' scenario based behavior directly from the system's graphical user interface (QUI). The second technique, play-out, makes it possible to execute, or 'play out', the behavior on the QUI as if it were programmed in a conventional intra object state-based fashion. All this is implemented in full in our tool, the Play-Engine. The book can be viewed as offering improvements in some ofthe phases of known system development life cycles, e.g., requirements capture and anal ysis, prototyping, and testing. However, there is a more radical way to view the book, namely, as proposing an alternative way to program reactivity, which, being based on inter-object scenarios, is a lot closer to how people think about systems and their behavior.
