Still unable to provide solace to the hearts of Sayaka-sensei and Fujimoto-san, Kobato is at a standstill in the process of healing the wounds of Yomogi Kindergarten. And so prompted, the belligerent blue Ioryogi-san, Kobato's plush mentor (read: drill sergeant), takes it upon himself to do a little digging into the school's backstory. But en route from his successful fact-finding mission, Yomogi's past turns into the least of Ioryogi-san's worries when his own past catches up with him! And with it comes a declaration: Time is running out for Ioryogi to help Kobato fulfill her quest! But as the seconds tick away, will Ioryogi-san be able to light a fire under Kobato, whose head and heart have become clouded by what seems like love...?
As the seeds of love begin to bloom in her heart, Kobato's attentions are diverted from giving solace to strangers and filling up her magic bottle in order to finally earn her mysterious wish! Now it seems all Kobato has eyes for is the dour Fujimoto-kun and putting a smile on his face. With this turn of events, Kobato is fighting to save Yomogi Kindergarten more than ever before, all at the expense of her magic bottle. But as time runs out for her quest, is Kobato unwittingly endangering her wish, her life, and the lives of Ioryogi and his erstwhile allies (read: cronies) by choosing to follow her heart?
Meet Kobato Hanato, a sweet and rather simple young girl on a quest to have her single, dearest wish granted. But first, she must learn the ways of the world from Ioryogi-san, a gruff blue dog whose bark is just as bad as his bite! Under his "tutelage" (read: constant verbal abuse), Kobato puts her efforts into passing various trials of common sense so that she may obtain the key to getting her wish-a magic bottle which must be filled with the suffering of wounded hearts that Kobato herself has healed. But with Kobato's common sense sorely lacking, she keeps flunking Ioryogi-san's trials left and right! It looks like the road that lies ahead of Kobato will be a long one indeed!
Kobato's mission to fill up her magic bottle might just be on the backburner. It seems that the members of Yomogi Kindergarten's staff are no strangers to wounds of the heart, but despite Kobato's efforts, she's no closer to healing either Sayaka-sensei or the ever-solemn Fujimoto-kun! Moreover, the center is still on the verge of being shut down by unscrupulous gangster types! Leaving Kobato to her own devices, Ioryogi-san meets (read: clashes) with some odd characters from his past and uses his otherworldly connections to investigate Yomogi. Who is Ioryogi-san really?! And will Kobato's sheer determination to help those around her be enough to unravel the kindergarten's secrets and save the hearts of its staff from despair?!
Now that cheerful, clumsy, and often clueless Kobato has her magic bottle, all she has to do is fill it up with the sorrows of wounded hearts to realize her one greatest wish. The only problem is Kobato doesn't have any idea how to cure one wounded heart, let alone a whole bottleful! Still learning about the world under Ioryogi-san's instruction (read: browbeating), Kobato starts out by offering a helping hand to Sayaka-sensei, the director of a kindergarten that's fallen on hard times. Can Kobato's limitless cheer break through the dark shadows that surround the fate of the center? And at the end of the day, will she be any closer to filling up the magic bottle?
Kobato herself has finally awakened to the feelings of love she possesses for Fujimoto. And she's more determined than ever to go to any lengths to heal his heart, even if it means breaking her own. But inside of Kobato, yet another, Iorogi's angel, begins to open her eyes as well. As their worlds collide and the deadline for her wish comes due, will Kobato actually be able to get what she longs for without the magic bottle? And where will that wish ultimately leave her friends from both the human world and the other world?
Kobato's birthday is coming up, so what better excuse for a party? For the Neighbors Club, a group of socially-inept students with no clue how to make friends, it's an opportunity for a practice party so they'll know how to behave when they go to a real party... someday. Of course, a party calls for presents, so it's time for a group shopping trip! Kodaka comes along to help the girls shop, but what our favorite misfits will come back with is anybody's guess. Also on the horizon is the school festival, an opportunity for clubs to strut their stuff! The question is, how does a dysfunctional group like the Neighbors Club come up with a single idea that will appeal to anyone but themselves?
The antisocial members of the Neighbors Club waste their time playing bishoujo games, playacting, and getting into arguments about the geekiest things. Yet somehow they've managed to add seven members to their pathetic ranks. Whether it's writing a round robin short story together - a seemingly innocent affair until someone goes berserk - or taking things too far in an MMORPG, these freaks take their fantasy seriously. But can a group of people so alienated from the rest of the world really make friends with each?
The Neighbors Club may be a group of friendless misfits who can't get the hang of socializing despite their best efforts, but at least they have each other to practice on! Sena's continued attempts to make Kobato love her result in the entire club taking an outing to an amusement park, where they turn a death-defying roller coaster into a competition, while eating curry and... getting kidnapped by demons?! But there's more going on at the club these days than meets the eye. One of the girls has a surprise in store for everyone - including herself! And when Kodaka challenges Rika to make a truly impressive invention, the skeleton he and Yozora have been hiding may not stay in the closet for long!
Kodaka's life hasn't been easy since joining the Neighbors Club. Getting dragged into a conversation by another strange nun was the last thing he needed. Then again, her advice seemed sound, until he discovered she was seriously twisted. Now her close ties to another member of the club will make it even harder for Kodaka to escape her. At this point, however, Kodaka is used to not being in control of his destiny. Whether it's studying with Sena (and discovering an unnatural obsession!), or having Maria invade his home to fight with Kobato, Kodaka's learned to go with the flow. Of course, this may not be the best approach to life, especially when it seems like other people are calling the shots for him!
With the Saint Chronica school festival quickly approaching, the Neighbors Club is going all out to get their movie finished on time - and in the process, the group is getting along better than ever! But the club's newfound spirit of cooperation may not survive the realization that Yozora's screenplay bears more than a little resemblance to a cult classic film. That's not the only surprise in store for this band of misfits. Kodaka and Sena's fathers are old friends, and would love nothing more than to see Kodaka and Sena get closer. Meanwhile, one particular club member is far more talented than anyone ever knew...!
