By philosophical definition, power is the ability to influence the behavior of others with or without resistance. By youth motivational speaker Carlos Ojeda Jr.'s definition, power is the ability to get things done! The ability to bring about positive change in the world. He believes that true power is evident in education, technological advancement, and in revolution, but no more so than in the hands of the youth that make these things happen. The Power of Youth is a ground breaking, interactive book that is designed to inspire students to cultivate the power that lies within them. The book echoes Carlos' motivational presentations by illustrating to students that their voice is their power, and that power can help them change their lives, the lives of their family, their community and their world. This workbook compliments the book as it teaches students the elements of personal power that they possess and how to harness the skills they need to create positive change in their lives and community.

Faith by definition is: confidence or trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ; the scriptures by which humans are justified or saved. "It is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1 KJV)." In this story, Faith is the key just as it is in our lives to defeating the enemy. God has given us power over the enemy but for us to use that power we have to believe in the Son Jesus Christ and have Faith that we possess the power He has given us. Not only do we need Faith in defeating the devil, but as well the things he throws at us in life. WE MUST HAVE FAITH TO SURVIVE! In this story a young man is given power to use against evil. The key to using it is having Faith. I ask you, as you read this story, put yourself in his shoes and see if you would be ready for a test of Faith.

Becoming more self-aware and seeking self-improvement are growing movements in modern society. To achieve these goals, people must fully understand all aspects of their intellectual and emotional selves and how they view, are viewed by, and interact with others. These lessons are valuable in both people's personal and professional lives. There may be no one better equipped to explain them than someone who taught a course on psychological factors in management for more than nineteen years. Through a series of proven models to guide individuals to a better understanding of self, Professor Hal Hendrick shows the way toward leading an interpersonally effective and happier way of life. “Most of us may at least intuitively grasp the importance of strengthening our sense of self in socially acceptable ways. But in It All Begins With Self, Hendrick draws upon empirically based models (including his own mistakes in life) to offer unique insights on how to put that understanding into action. Until you've read the book you won't really be able to see the vastness of the gulf that separates the maverick with a goal from the bull in the china shop.” Alex Raksin, former book review editor for the Los Angeles Times and winner of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing

How It All Began

Author : Nikolai Bukharin
ISBN : 0585378894
Genre : History
File Size : 35.91 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

Here at last in English is Nikolai Bukharin's autobiographical novel and final work. Many dissident texts of the Stalin era were saved by chance, by bravery, or by cunning; others were systematically destroyed. Bukharin's work, however, was simultaneously preserved and suppressed within Stalin's personal archives. At once novel, memoir, political apology, and historical document, How It All Began, known in Russia as "the prison novel," adds deeply to our understanding of this vital intellectual and maligned historical figure. The panoramic story, composed under the worst of circumstances, traces the transformation of a sensitive young man into a fiery agitator, and presents a revealing new perspective on the background and causes of the revolution that transformed the face of the twentieth century. Among the millions of victims of the reign of terror in the Soviet Union of the 1930's, Bukharin stands out as a special case. Not yet 30 when the Bolsheviks took power, he was one of the youngest, most popular, and most intellectual members of the Communist Party. In the 1920's and 30's, he defended Lenin's liberal New Economic Policy, claiming that Stalin's policies of forced industrialization constituted a "military-feudal exploitation" of the masses. He also warned of the approaching tide of European fascism and its threat to the new Bolshevik revolution. For his opposition, Bukharin paid with his freedom and his life. He was arrested and spent a year in prison. In what was one of the most infamous "show trials" of the time, Bukharin confessed to being a "counterrevolutionary" while denying any particular crime and was executed in his prison cell on March 15, 1938. While in prison, Bukharin wrote four books, of which this unfinished novel was the last. It traces the development of Nikolai "Kolya" Petrov (closely modeled on Nikolai "Kolya" Bukharin) from his early childhood though to age fifteen. In lyrical and poetic terms it paints a picture of Nikolai's growing political consciousness and ends with his activism on the eve of the failed 1905 revolution. The novel is presented here along with the only surviving letter from Bukharin to his wife during his time in prison, an epistle filled with fear, longing, and hope for his family and his nation. The introduction by Stephen F. Cohen articulates Bukharin's significance in Soviet history and reveals the troubled journey of this novel from Stalin's archives into the light of day.
