Crespo da Silva's Intermediate Dynamics: Complemented with Simulations and Animations offers a unique approach, based on a strong problem-solving methodology and use of computer software for problem modeling, visualization and solution. Dynamics concepts are developed progressively, so readers can follow the natural flow of topics, from basic to more advanced. Later chapters cover Lagrangian dynamics and vibrations/oscillations of systems, for courses that advance to this level. Reviewers have praised the book for its excellent problems and examples, that effectively link dynamics concepts with engineering applications. The inclusion of MATLAB and Simulink provides a vehicle for showing modern computer usage, problem modeling, and visualizations of dynamics concepts. A bound-in CD ROM with Simulink routines is included, and a Book Website has full solutions to all chapter problems, links to professional websites, and other student and instructor resources.

Based on more than 10 years of teaching intermediate dynamics at the Air Force Institute of Technology, this book is suitable as a text for a graduate-level or advanced undergraduate-level course in 3-dimensional dynamics, or as a reference. The methods and techniques presented have been tested in the classroom, and have facilitated several research projects undertaken by the author. The basics of vector mathematics in three-dimensional space is introduced in the first chapter, and is facilitated by a vector notation that encourages a thorough understanding of kinematic and dynamic variables. Subsequent chapters cover particle kinematics, particle dynamics, rigid body kinematics, and rigid body dynamics using the framework of Newtonian mechanics. Energy and variational approaches, including Hamilton's Law of Varying Action, Hamilton's Principle, and Lagrange's Equation are introduced in Chapter 6. Each chapter includes solved problems, which demonstrate the concepts covered in the chapter, as well as additional problems that may be used as practice problems or as homework assignments.

Suitable for both senior-level and first-year graduate courses, this fully revised edition provides a unique and systematic treatment of engineering dynamics that covers Newton–Euler and Lagrangian approaches. New to this edition are: two completely revised chapters on the constraints on, and potential energies for, rigid bodies, and the dynamics of systems of particles and rigid bodies; clearer discussion on coordinate singularities and their relation to mass matrices and configuration manifolds; additional discussion of contravariant basis vectors and dual Euler basis vectors, as well as related works in robotics; improved coverage of navigation equations; inclusion of a 350-page solutions manual for instructors, available online; a fully updated reference list. Numerous structured examples, discussion of various applications, and exercises covering a wide range of topics are included throughout, and source code for exercises, and simulations of systems are available online.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Probes of Molecular Dynamics describes the theoretical basis and experimental techniques that make modern NMR spectroscopy a powerful and flexible tool for probing molecular dynamics in chemical, physical, and biochemical systems. Individual chapters, written by leaders in the development and application of NMR from around the world, treat systems that range from synthetic polymers, liquid crystals, and catalysts to proteins and oligonucleotides and techniques that include deuterium NMR, magic angle spinning, multidimensional spectroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging. A combination of elementary and advanced material makes the book a useful introduction to the field for students at the graduate level as well as an important reference for practising NMR spectroscopists.
