In the 21st Century children travel a fine line between innocence and becoming a victim of abuse. Every child has the right to help if they have been hurt, neglected or sexually abused whether they are a boy or a girl, rich or poor or where they live in the world. As an Educator I was inspired by parents of young children placed in my care to create a starting point, a way to approach the subject of bullying and sexual abuse with young children. The book is a resource to be read to children and then for children to read themselves. This book will stimulate questions and discussion to assist children to understand the difference between good and bad feelings, what is right and what is wrong, staying healthy and safe, and the importance of asking for help when they are at risk of harm or sexual abuse. It is important to inform children that abuse can occur anywhere, anytime, and by an adult or a child of any age. I hope the idea of "I'm Boss of my Body" will give children a voice, and that the person they turn to for help will have the strength and ability to advocate on their behalf to keep them safe. Suitable for children 4-7 years of age and over.

Marked by the events of the Great Flood of 1893 and the formation of the first miners' unions, OVER MY DEAD BODY is an Australian epic; a literary feat exemplifying a writer's craftsmanship and dedication to bringing history alive. It puts Australia's current resource-driven prosperity into context by showing the day to day struggles of ordinary workers just trying to get by for themselves and their families at a time when the individual was virtually power-less against the arrogance of his employer, and expendable if work-related illness overtook him. With panoramic themes reminiscent of Lawrence's SONS AND LOVERS, this thoroughly researched, award-winning retrospective certainly reminds us of the important place unions have earned in today's society. OVER MY DEAD BODY won the IP Picks 08 Best Fiction Award.

A Sniper S Conflict

ISBN : 9781473834798
Genre : History

Format : PDF, ePub, Docs

The Author sets the scene with his early experiences as a sniper during his 2004 Cimic House Al-Amarah tour in Iraq where hard lessons were learnt. Next stop after rigorous training came participation on Op HERRICK 8/9 in Helmand District, Afghanistan. Having already been a Sniper Instructor for eight years by the start of the Helmand Tour, he is well qualified to explain sniping tactics and techniques in fascinating detail. Together with the operational background, his descriptions of many sniper engagements during the Battalion group's eventful and gruelling tour, make this a thrilling and instructive read. Intense though the action was, there were long periods of watching and waiting. Cool nerves are called for; witnessing the taking of life even from distances of a kilometre is traumatic. Snipers work in pairs so relationship and trust are all important. This is a superb action-packed description of professional soldiering at the sharp end. The Author's depth of knowledge and experience make this as good as a sniper's manual.
