A collection of over 300 songs written by the author, mostly as parodies of Christian hymns. In general they are humorous, satirical, and irreverent. They poke fun at religion in general, and, in particular, Christianity. However, there is great variety. Some songs are serious. Some are fun but have nothing to do with religion at all. And some are not parodies of hymns, but are songs in the same genre written to the author's own music. www.wardsbooks.com – About the author – www.wardricker.com Keywords - Songbook, Songs, Humor, Parody, Satire, Religion, Hymns, Irreverent, Music, Christianity

The entire Holy Bible rewritten as parody. The history, poetry, gospels, prophets of the Old Testament, letters of the New Testament -- the entire thing rewritten to make you laugh as it points out the lunacy, immorality and horror of the "good book". Audacious, sacrilegious, blasphemous, scandalous, but most of all hilarious, as long as you are not one who takes this book of mythology seriously. You may learn more about the Bible by reading this version than by reading the original.

Film Musings

For nearly twenty years, scholar and critic Royal S. Brown contributed a regular column, "Film Musings," to Fanfare magazine. These columns have been assembled, largely unaltered, for this single-volume collection. In these essays, Brown reviews significant recordings of music originally composed or adapted from other sources to enhance and complement the dramatic action of a wide variety of movies. Although many of the reviews are of original soundtrack recordings for films released during the column's run, several also cover reissues of earlier recordings, as well as newly recorded versions of classic scores. In certain instances, Brown was able to include in his column interviews with such composers as David Raksin (Laura) and Howard Shore (The Silence of the Lambs) concerning new recordings of their music, and these are included here as well. Film Musings is not intended as a guide for collectors - although many of the recordings discussed are still available - but rather to open new horizons in a unique art form.
