"Although individual chapters could be useful for teaching and senior scholars, I see the book as helpful for early career policy scholars engaging in the research design process because of the excellent examples of quality research."?The Review of Higher Education "This book will be of great interest to many different audiences, including higher education faculty, state education policy makers, graduate students, and practitioners. It promises to help fill the substantial void that currently exists in the work of academics on state education policy and practitioners and policy organizations, and will be a must read for anyone who attempts to examine higher education policies across multiple states."?The Journal of Higher Education This book provides an in-depth examination of the challenges and opportunities inherent in conducting cross-state higher education policy research. The authors of each chapter use their individual research projects to demonstrate the array of methodological, theoretical, analytical, and political challenges inherent in conducting comparative state-level policy research.

This book contains fifteen essays, each first presented as the annual Tanner Lecture at the conference of the Mormon History Association by a leading scholar. Renowned in their own specialties but relatively new to the study of Mormon history at the time of their lectures, these scholars approach Mormon history from a wide variety of perspectives, including such concerns as gender, identity creation, and globalization. Several of these essays place Mormon history within the currents of American religious history--for example, by placing Joseph Smith and other Latter-day Saints in conversation with Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nat Turner, fellow millenarians, and freethinkers. Other essays explore the creation of Mormon identities, demonstrating how Mormons created a unique sense of themselves as a distinct people. Historians of the American West examine Mormon connections with American imperialism, the Civil War, and the wider cultural landscape. Finally the essayists look at continuing Latter-day Saint growth around the world, within the context of the study of global religions. Examining Mormon history from an outsider's perspective, the essays presented in this volume ask intriguing questions, share fresh insights and perspectives, analyze familiar sources in unexpected ways, and situate research on the Mormon past within broader scholarly debates.

Chryssany (Syd) has fallen in love with Damion who just so happens to be one of her best friends and just so happens to be with someone else. It's complicated though. Damion may be in a situationship with Shamika because of their soon-to-be real live crying baby, but his love still runs deep for Chryssany. As if that's not torturous enough, Damion randomly proposes to Shamika, but Chryssany is so gullible and forgiving that she takes him right back. Well, she takes his body back, but ignores her heart in the process until eventually she decides she's had enough. Chryssany boldly shuts the flirtationship down with the help of her dear friend, Melony. Together they pick up the broken pieces of Chryssany's life while Melony encourages her, a little too abrasively---to move on to the next phase of life and forget about Damion. Although Melony has her own issues, she still manages to find time to ensure her A-1 is ok. Meanwhile, Chryssany invites everyone (Alex, Shawn, and Valentino) back into town for a reunion of friends and this leads to catastrophic elements. Valentino, having spent his college years in the state penitentiary, has encountered issues with readjusting. Alex, in an attempt to help Valentino readapt to civilian life, was misinterpreted, and Valentino's presence causes a rift that could destroy what Alex and Shawn have worked so hard to build and grow into. Then Gregory enters Chryssany's life just as it begins to spiral out of control and he helps her with her friends, relationships, and generally maintains her personal life. He provides an outlet to relax and release. But there's more. He loves her. To him, she encompasses everything a woman should be. Everything a woman is. It doesn't take long for her to fall madly in love with him as well and everything seems to be going wonderfully until Damion comes back to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his.

There is a world called Shoeba, much like Earth, but far off in the universe. It is governed by a faceless corporation known only as The Organization. Life there is similar to life on Earth, except that from the moment a baby is born it has the ability to shift the cells in its body, allowing it to take the shape of an animal. At the exact moment each person becomes 15 years old, they lose the ability to take the shape of all animals, centering on only one, which they call their 'Permanent'. That one animal determines new traits and personalities developed by that person and influences their entire life. This world has been experiencing complete peace for as long as history documents can tell. That peace is believed to continue for the rest of eternitybut one baby will change everything. When Mark Ornill realizes on his 15th birthday that he doesn't have a Permanent, his life spirals out of control. With each step he uncovers chilling revelations about his past and about the mysterious government which holds unimaginable secrets. His life will never be the same, but one thing is sure: nothing is what it seems.
