He taught at Dasher Bible School and Simpson College, and for 20 years served as Minister of the Church of Christ in California, Alaska, Georgia and New York. Roy Key says of Fire in My Bones-Sword in My Soul: "This I had to write. To make one more attempt to reach back across the gulf to family and friends who could not understand why I am gone. To let 'Disciples' know who this sojourner is among them, why he came, the road he traveled, the dream that lures him still, and the pain that will not stop as long as the rift remains."

Fire in My Soul pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Seyoon Kim, who has taught as Professor of New Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary for almost two decades and is known internationally for his work on the origin of Paul's gospel. This collection of essays in his honor revisits classic issues in Pauline studies and offers fresh insights on Paul's use of righteousness language in his letters, the occasion and purpose of Romans, the problem of universal sinfulness, and justification by faith. It also presents several exegetical studies on the use of the Old Testament in the gospels. Scholars, students, and pastors interested in Pauline soteriology and gospel hermeneutics will find this volume helpful in their own research, teaching, and ministry.

This, John’s fifth book of poetry, is an indication of what happens when a writer is passionate and dedicated to his craft. A full-time writer in his retirement, John enjoys every moment, but suffers from Writer’s Block more often than not. “I work myself too hard sometimes” he says, “I work through the night when the Muse is about (!) and read voraciously. I can spend days agonizing over apparently trivial words, but it has to be right” John travels regularly to family in South Africa, Germany, Poland and Ireland: he gets inspiration from the smallest details: “indeed, attention to detail is what makes my life what it is - a passionate love affair with people, with the inconsequential trappings of everyday life”, he says.
