A New York Times Best Seller If you could read my mind, you wouldn't be smiling. Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off. Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist. Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear. "Clueless meets Dead Poets Society with a whopping final twist." -Kirkus Reviews "This book is highly recommended-readers will connect with Sam, relating to her anxiety about her peers, and root for her throughout the book." -VOYA "A thoughtful romance with a strong message about self-acceptance, [this] sensitive novel boasts strong characterizations and conflicts that many teens will relate to. In 1976, Ronald Reagan, at the Republican Convention, announced he placed a letter in a time capsule to be opened in Los Angeles in 2076. In a speech given at that convention, Reagan expressed his concern that the people of 2076 would never get to read the letter because it spoke of individual freedom. America, 2076—the United States has been fundamentally changed, and the government controls every aspect of daily life—medical decisions, consumption, speech, transportation, even the right to be alive—all in the name of social justice. Michael Adams, a journalism student, writes an article about America’s Tercentennial and wonders if his generation understands what it means to be an American. He discovers a plot to destroy the Reagan letter, its message no longer welcome in a country where liberty has died and tyranny rules. He turns to the man who introduced him to Reagan’s ideas—Calvin Marshall, a history professor who is hiding, and only his granddaughter, Michael’s ex-girlfriend, Jackie Perez, knows of his whereabouts. Soon, Michael goes on the run, persecuted by a federal agent determined to silence him at any cost. To keep the letter from being destroyed, he has to face the agent, community organizers, rats, strippers, high-speed trains, bandits, Obamobiles, a terrible family dinner, and a bad movie. As he continues to run for his life, Reagan’s warning becomes all too real. “They probably won’t get to read the letter at all because it spoke of individual freedom . . .” www.2076reaganslastword.com

Attempting to avert malpractice for voluntary intervention outside of the realm of a psychiatrist a patient is diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic conveniently within the realm of psychiatry leading to the decision to take a medical discharge from the shared employer rather than agree to take psychotic medication with all the associated and numerous potential side effects. While seeking commensurate compensation for a host of injustices including wrongful release, malpractice inclusive of experimentation, wilful negligence, and even fraud and attempted blackmail not only do the relevant systems fail but without exception so do the respective appeal levels resulting in our subject ending up in jail temporarily in solitary confinement now alleged of becoming a dangerous paranoid schizophrenic forced to forfeit all firearms as well as subsequently agree to an order ordinance prohibiting the possession of any firearms or ammunitions for a period of five years, effectively for live, rendering Canada a democratically elected government regulated by nothing more than dictators that the appointed courts condone. Once mortgage free with sizable savings and numerous other assets the victim over a decade later after meeting with about 50 lawyers is broke and mortgaged to the hilt barely able to make minimum monthly payments to remain in a modest 1232 square feet home and afford a life style consisting of little more than the essentials while watching his long held belief of becoming married and having children with someone of his choice in an affluent lifestyle vanish as the sun sets on his youthful years still celibate and no closure to financial compensation for any injustice still experiencing cruelty.

If only “we the people” of America could understand that the American Revolution was only a mere political upheaval compared to the moral war we now face. We are divided in morals and ethics more than in culture, wherein truth is more an option than a necessity. Ever since time began, the most celebrated nations have been those that have abridged the exorbitant chasm between morality and secularism, between feelings and principles, righteousness and unrighteousness. America appears to have joined the infamous tradition of derelict and ungodly nations that have surrendered their integrity for power and wealth, like ancient Babylon. In this The Last Word to America, the intent is to paint a living portrait of the ways in which America has abandoned divine counsel—how Washington, significant events, and personalities have shaped personal experience. It explores music and the perverse arts, through which philosophers are damaging our young people and the families of America are sullied.

Citizens Of The Green Room

Author : Mark Leibovich
ISBN : 9780698172777
Genre : Biography & Autobiography
File Size : 48.31 MB
Format : PDF, ePub

Read : 851

Author of the groundbreaking #1 New York Times bestseller This Town, Mark Leibovich returns with a masterly collection of portraits of Washington’s elite, and wannabe elites. Hailed by The Washington Post as a “master of the political profile,” Leibovich has spent his career writing memorable, buzz-worthy, and often jaw-dropping features about politicians and other notables. Currently chief national correspondent for The New York Times Magazine, Leibovich punctures the inflated personas of the powerful, and in Citizens of the Green Room, he reveals the lives, stories, and peculiarities behind the public masks. A brilliant reporter with a talent for subversive, engaging storytelling, Leibovich maintains a refreshing conviviality with many of his subjects even as he renders incisive and unflinching assessments. His features have driven the national conversation while exposing the fallibilities of the kingmakers and media stars: consider his 2007 profile of Hillary Clinton, which unearthed a treasure trove of old letters that the then senator had written as a vulnerable young college student; or his much-talked-about 2010 portrait of Glenn Beck, which laid bare the tortured soul and precarious standing of the once invincible host and his uneasy relationship with his soon-to-be ex-employer FOX News. In the political arena, Leibovich’s portraits of John Kerry, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, and John McCain are already classics; they invariably remind us that great journalism and stylish writing are not only essential to the Republic but necessary to maintain the citizenry’s sanity and humor in the face of made-for-TV government.

A literary thriller about a mysterious death and an ambitious young novelist, “full of delicious prose” (Entertainment Weekly). Following the death of her husband—which may have been an accident, a suicide, or perhaps even murder—Catherine Strayed is living a quiet life in a secluded upstate New York college town. But now her former mentor and onetime lover has arrived. A powerful literary critic who single-handedly destroyed her late husband’s promising writing career, he has an exotic young female protégé in tow. Her name is Antonia Lively, and her debut novel has made her a darling of the publishing world. Antonia likes to take real-life crimes and mysteries and turn them into fodder for fiction, with little concern about the lives she affects. Unbeknownst to Catherine, the rising star has targeted her for subject matter for the next book—and the fallout could be deadly. This “fast-paced page-turner” (The Denver Post) is filled with mystery and psychological suspense, and asks the provocative question: What does stealing another’s life do to your soul? “A sleepy town, charming on the surface, conceals a nest of vipers . . . Sharpened by plot swerves and an undercurrent of violence, this intelligent psychological thriller exudes the aplomb associated with Patricia Highsmith.” —Interview Magazine “It hooked me from the start.” —Gary Shteyngart, author of Super Sad True Love Story
