Eucharistic adoration is part of Catholic tradition. In many parts of the world, perpetual adoration is flourishing as never before. Presented here for any who respect the Blessed Sacrament, the reflections found in Eucharistic Contemplation provide a distinct style for prayer and veneration. Eucharistic Contemplation is not another book of eucharistic devotions" as has been the style for the past few centuries. The prayers are not directed to Jesus in the Sacrament of the Altar, full of sentiments, feelings, petitions, thanksgiving, praise, or reparation. Rather, these 32 reflections focus on contemplation as a simple, straightforward, and honest prayer. Every short reading leads to moments of silent contemplation. They are meant to serve principally for moments of prayer, yet define the meaning of what contemplation, and specifically eucharistic contemplation, are to people of faith praying before the Blessed sacrament. Prepared and delivered in the parish of San Francisco de Borja, in Lima, Peru, these reflections on the Eucharist use actual prayers from the Church's sacramentary and rites. Each reflection follows the process of Eucharistic contemplation. The first reading should be studied slowly to have a basic understanding of the text. Then, the reader is invited to search out the various scriptural background references, especially from the Old Testament. A re-reading of the text, with pauses, and time for deep silence concludes the meditation. Chapters are *The Mystery of the Love of God, - *Eucharistic Contemplation, - *Mystery/Memorial of Christ, - *United in Blood with One Past, - *The Blood of Christ, - *The Seven Offerings of the Blood of Christ, - *Bread as Living Remembrance, - *Proclaim the Mystery of Faith, - *O Holy Banquet, - *Blood of the Covenant, - *'Remove the Sandals From Your Feet, For the Place on Which You Are Standing is Holy Ground,'- *'I AM WHO I AM,'- *The Meeting Tent, - *'And He Lived Among Us,'- *The Wedding of Cana, - *Bread in the Wilderness, - *The Ark of the Covenant, - *Christ, the Propitiation For Our Sins, - *Christ, the One and Only Sacrifice, - *Advent, - *The Beginning and the End, - *'Let Us Go Up to the House of the Lord,'- *Zen Meditation and the Eucharist, - *Pope John Paul II in the Cenacle of Jerusalem, - *Grace, the Fullness of the Christian Life, - *The Eucharist Where There Is No Eucharist, - *Bread For the Journey, - *The Eucharist and the Servant of the Lord, - *The Eucharist and the Lord of Miracles, - *Mary and Martha, - *Mary and the Eucharist, - *The Eucharist and Prayers of Petition. - Ernest Rally, CPPS, PhD, is the administrator of two parish schools at San Francisco deBorja parish in Lima, Peru. Dialectical Anatomy Of The Eucharist

For centuries, Christian theology has understood the Eucharist in terms of metaphysics or in protest against it. Today an opening has been made to imagine the sacrament through the method of phenomenology, bringing about new theological life and meaning. In Dialectical Anatomy of the Eucharist, Donald Wallenfang conducts a sustained analysis of the Eucharist through the aperture of phenomenology, yet concludes the study with poetic and metaphysical twists. Engaging the work of Jean-Luc Marion, Paul Ricoeur, and Emmanuel Levinas, Wallenfang proposes pioneering ideas for contemporary sacramental theology that have vast implications for interfaith and interreligious dialogue. By tapping into the various currents within the Judeo-Christian tradition--Jewish, Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant--a radical argument is developed that leverages the tension among them all. Several new frontiers are explored: dialectical theology, a fourth phenomenological reduction, the phenomenology of human personhood, the poetics of the Eucharist, and a reinterpretation of the concept of gift as conversation. On the whole, Wallenfang advances recent debates surrounding the relationship between phenomenology and theology by claiming an uncanny way out of emerging dead ends in philosophical theology: return to the fray.

Throughout its long and rich history, the celebration of Christ's paschal mystery has been called by different names. In the Bible, the early Church initially designated it as "the Lord's Supper" and" the Breaking of the Bread." Subsequently, it has been called Eucharist, Liturgy, Mystery, Sacrament, Sacrifice, Memorial, Mass, Real Presence, Paschal Banquet, and Communion. These twelve names of the Eucharist are used in the 2002 General Instruction of the Roman Missal which is the present manual for the celebration of Christ's paschal mystery. What is the history behind each name? Can we derive any theological meaning and pastoral implications from those names? Employing the threefold method of historical, theological, and pastoral investigations, Virgilio Suerte Felipe has also incorporated Pope Benedict XVI's recent Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis and Apostolic Letter Summorum Pontificum. This informative book will surely help not only teachers and students in schools but also pastors, lay leaders, and parishioners as well as religious communities.

“Mario Aguilar skillfully, elegantly, and clearly presents the life and thought of some of the major spiritual forces of our time as a starting point for his own compelling reflections on the relationship between contemplation and politics... We need more books like this one.” —Professor Ivan Petrella, University of Miami Contemplation and political action defined the lives and work of six of the most inspiring Christian leaders of the twentieth century: Thomas Merton, Ernesto Cardenal, Daniel Berrigan, Sheila Cassidy, Desmond Tutu, and Mother Teresa. Each one embraced a silent, purposeful life of prayer, contemplation, and conversation with God, which the author contends was the very foundation for their public activism. Aguilar profiles these outstanding religious figures, illustrating how their contemplation of God gave them courage and understanding not just to grow in personal holiness, but to become one with God through responding to the needs of others. It was their spiritual life that gave them the energy, commitment, and strength to help feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and liberate the oppressed, even in the darkest, most difficult times. Yet, as Aguilar shows, it is not just a chosen few who are called to combine prayer with political action: through the regular contemplation of God, all Christians can be empowered to work toward social transformation and a just world.

The Eucharist should not be limited to the congregation that gathers to hear the word of God and proclaim its faith. It is, first of all, the active presence of the sacrifice of Christ, who gathers us together and lets us partake of his divine life through his body and blood in Communion. Christians are always hoping to find helpful ways to contemplate the eucharistic mystery in all its fullness, and this set of meditations by Father Raniero Cantalamessa - presented by him in the presence of Pope John Paul II - is written in a simple and warm style and nourished by Scripture and the teachings of the Church Fathers from both the East and the West. These meditations answer the needs of all who hope to experience the radiant and radiating Eucharist that shines into their hearts and into the life of the Church.

Arguing that he is a painter-evangelist, a man of authentic religious calling, it demonstrates a novel thesis that theological spirituality is the genius of both his religious ministry and his art.
