Cool Kids Speak German has been written with primary school aged children in mind by a qualified and experienced foreign languages teacher. This book may however also interest older children as it is filled full of fun worksheets, wonderful word searches and lovely colouring pages. The topics covered in this book include Greetings, Introductions, Numbers, Fruit, Colours, Clothes and Transport. Each topic begins with a page full of images and the German words for the topic. Progression throughout each of the topics has been carefully planned as the activities practice only a few of the new words at any one time, and gradually introduce simple sentence structures. At the back of the book there is a useful German English word list and also the answer section. Learning a new foreign language at an early age can be an enjoyable and useful experience, and this book would be a great way for any child to learn German.
The stories teach Spanish to young children by introducing only a few Spanish words at a time as the Spanish languasaurus and Jack talk together. The main parts of the stories are in English so that young children can understand the stories, but there are many Spanish words and phrases throughout both stories.
Angel Lupo grew up in a traditional Italian home — an exclusive club where Mama’s word was everything ... and where nice girls saved themselves for marriage. All Angel wanted was to be movie-star blond, change her name, and get as much attention as her prettier older sister Lina. Now Angel is nearing thirty, penning Catholic greeting cards for a living, and still jealous of her sister, who has a house in the suburbs, two kids, and a husband who loves her. So Angel does the next best thing: She answers a personal ad. Dirk Diederhoff is blond, teaches at Vassar, and is definitely not Italian. Nor is he the thrill-a-minute lover and soul mate Angel prays for. But as Lina, recklessly embarked on an affair of her own, would tell her: There are no perfect tens out there — only men who want you to talk to them in Italian during sex. The award-winning author of Pink Slip gets the rituals and rhythms of domestic life just right in Sometimes I Dream in Italian, a bittersweet comedy about sisters, lovers, and a family that doesn’t quite translate. From the Trade Paperback edition.

In these pages, you’ll hike mountain paths, jolt down rutted desert roads, and pick your way through teeming markets and crowded urban slums. You’ll meet boisterous children, worried parents, anxious teens, and curious seniors—all hungry, whether they know it or not, for the Good News. You’ll witness moments of looming danger and crushing heartache, moments of shining hope and pure miracle. You’ll be inspired anew by those who dare to obey God’s call to take His story to the ends of the earth. And you’ll be encouraged to pray for those who dare to open their hearts not only to the message but also to the One who calls and sustains them. The art of any story is the truth that it paints. I pray you’ll find this book chock-full of truth. I pray that every single entry causes words of Scripture to jump off the page and onto the pavement of authentic human experiences, causing you not only to see their lives differently but also to change the way you see your own. — from the Introduction by Beth Moore All royalties for the Voices of the Faithful series support the work of the International Mission Board.
