Written by world-renowned leaders in Big Data, this book explores the problems, possible solutions and directions for Big Data in research and practice. It also focuses on high level concepts such as definitions of Big Data from different angles; surveys in research and applications; and existing tools, mechanisms, and systems in practice. Each chapter is independent from the other chapters, allowing users to read any chapter directly. After examining the practical side of Big Data, this book presents theoretical perspectives. The theoretical research ranges from Big Data representation, modeling and topology to distribution and dimension reducing. Chapters also investigate the many disciplines that involve Big Data, such as statistics, data mining, machine learning, networking, algorithms, security and differential geometry. The last section of this book introduces Big Data applications from different communities, such as business, engineering and science. Big Data Concepts, Theories and Applications is designed as a reference for researchers and advanced level students in computer science, electrical engineering and mathematics. Practitioners who focus on information systems, big data, data mining, business analysis and other related fields will also find this material valuable.

DTA and BSBT bring together researchers from academia and industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems and solutions relating to the multifaceted aspects of databases, data mining and biomedicine, including their links to computational sciences, mathematics and information technology. In total, 1,630 papers were submitted to FGIT 2010 from 30 countries, which includes 175 papers submitted to DTA/BSBT 2010. The submitted papers went through a rigorous reviewing process: 395 of the 1,630 papers were accepted for FGIT 2010, while 40 papers were accepted for DTA/BSBT 2010. Of the 40 papers 6 were selected for the special FGIT 2010 volume published by Springer in the LNCS series. 31 papers are published in this volume, and 3 papers were withdrawn due to technical reasons. We would like to acknowledge the great effort of the DTA/BSBT 2010 International Advisory Boards and members of the International Program Committees, as well as all the organizations and individuals who supported the idea of publishing this volume of proceedings, including SERSC and Springer. Also, the success of these two conferences would not have been possible without the huge support from our sponsors and the work of the Chairs and Organizing Committee.

This volume contains the papers presented at the 11th International Conference on Theory and Applications of Satis?ability Testing (SAT 2008). The series of International Conferences on Theory and Applications of S- is?ability Testing (SAT) has evolved from a ?rst workshop on SAT in 1996 to an annual international conference which is a platform for researchers studying various aspects of the propositional satis?ability problem and its applications. In the past, the SAT conference venue alternated between Europe and North America. For the ?rst time, the conference venue was in Asia, more precisely at the Zhudao Guest House, near Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, P. R. China. Many hard combinatorial problems can be encoded into SAT. Therefore - provementsonheuristics onthe practicalside,as wellastheoreticalinsightsinto SAT apply to a large range of real-world problems. More speci?cally, many - portant practical veri?cation problems can be rephrased as SAT problems. This applies to veri?cation problems in hardware and software. Thus SAT is bec- ing one of the most important core technologies to verify secure and dependable systems. The topics of the conference span practical and theoretical research on SAT and its applications and include but are not limited to proof systems, proof complexity, search algorithms, heuristics, analysis of algorithms, hard instances, randomized formulae, problem encodings, industrial applications, solvers, s- pli?ers, tools, case studies, and empirical results. SAT is interpreted in a rather broad sense: besides propositional satis?ability, it includes, for example, the - main of quanti?ed Boolean formulae (QBF) and satis?ability modulo theories (SMT).

This book offers a new perspective and deeper understanding of complex socioeconomic systems, and explores the laws and mechanisms of erring by revealing the system structure, i.e., the context in which errors are imbedded. It proposes a number of new concepts for the field of systems science concerning the forces affecting e.g. system structure, subsystem structures, and system elements. Given its scope, it offers an excellent reference book for researchers and other readers in the fields of systems science, management science, mathematics, fuzzy logic and sets, symbolic logic, philosophy, etc. The book can also benefit researchers and practitioners in artificial intelligence and machine learning, as various erring patterns can be identified by training intelligent machines with big data (i.e., error cases and their logic), helping to prevent or eliminate errors in a cost-effective manner.

In recent years, there has been an explosion of research focused on using technology in healthcare, including web- and mobile- health assessment and intervention tools, as well as smartphone sensors and smart environments for monitoring and promoting health behavior. This work has shown that technology-based therapeutic tools offer considerable promise for monitoring and responding to individuals' health behavior in real-time. They may also function as important "clinician-extenders" or stand-alone tools, may be cost-effective and may offer countless opportunities for tailoring behavioral monitoring and intervention delivery in a manner that is optimally responsive to each individual's profile and health behavior trajectory over time. Additionally, informational and communication technologies may be used in the context of decision support tools to help individuals better understand and access treatment. Technology may enable entirely new models of healthcare both within and outside of formal systems of care and thus offers the opportunity to revolutionize healthcare delivery. This edited book defines the state of scientific research related to the development, experimental evaluation, and effective dissemination of technology-based therapeutic tools targeting behavioral health. Behavioral Healthcare and Technology provides an overview of current evidence-based approaches to leverage technology to promote behavioral health, including management of substance use, mental health, diet/exercise, medication adherence, as well as chronic disease self-management. Additionally, the book defines the state of implementation research examining models for deploying technology-based behavioral healthcare systems and integrating them into various care settings to increase the quality and reach of evidence-based behavioral healthcare while reducing costs.
