I started writing poetry in 2008. It began as an accident one day while sitting down just doodling with a pencil. Verses started coming together one after another and I have been doing it ever since. I am 63 and this is my first book. I hope it puts a smile on peoples faces. All my poems deal with love, happiness, giving kindness to one another, and sharing time with people you love and care of. In one form or another each one represents the goodness in this world from the heart. There is so much hurt, pain and hate, destruction in this world today. From wars in far off lands to our own backyards, when the towers fell. Someday this must all stop. If my poems can bring a little sunshine into the heart my writings have not been done in vain. My wish would be to take all weapons of war and turn them into farming tools. This world would be a lot better off. In closing I would like to repeat what Roy and Dale say at the end of their show: Happy trails to you until we meet again. May God Bless, Rick Widener

This book of poetry by Mark Wagner is an original and unique production. Many of the pieces are inspired by various parts of the Bible, everything from before the creation in Genesis to after the final judgment of God; things taken from various books of the Bible, such as Job and Psalms and Isaiah, to things of the New Testament. It creates for the reader a different perspective from which the reader can draw their own conclusions. At times, it ventures into the imagination of man of what God can do. In the end, it is intended to bring you closer to God and Jesus Christ and They to you.

The first book by a respected journalist on Nearing Death Awareness—similar to Near-Death Experience—this “fascinating” (Kirkus Reviews) exploration brings “humor, sympathy, and keen critical intelligence to a topic that is all too often off-limits” (Ptolemy Tompkins, collaborator with Eben Alexander on Proof of Heaven). People everywhere carry with them extraordinary, deeply comforting experiences that arrived at the moment when they most needed relief: when they lost a loved one. These experiences can include clear messages from beyond, profound and vividly beautiful visions, mysterious connections and spiritual awareness, foreknowledge of a loved one’s passing—all of which evade explanation by science and logic. Most people keep these transcendent experiences secret for fear they will be discounted by hyperrational scrutiny. Yet these very common occurrences have the power to console, comfort, and even transform our understanding of life and death. Prompted by her family’s surprising, profound experiences around the death of her father and her sister, reporter Patricia Pearson sets out on an open-minded inquiry, a rare journalistic investigation of Nearing Death Awareness, which Anne Rice praises as “substantive, eloquent, and worthwhile.” Opening Heaven’s Door offers deeply affecting stories of messages from the dying and the dead in a fascinating work of investigative journalism, pointing to new scientific explanations that give these luminous moments the importance felt by those who experience them. Pearson also delves into out-of-body and near-death experiences, examining stories and research to make sense of these related but distinct categories. Challenging current assumptions about what we know and what we are still unable to explain, Opening Heaven’s Door will forever alter your perceptions of the nature of life and death.

Lisa Randall guides us through the latest ideas, charting the thrilling progress we have made in understanding the universe – from Galileo and Newton to Einstein and the Large Hadron Collider and the search for the Higgs boson. Yet it's about more than just physics - Randall explains how we decide what questions to ask; how risk, beauty, creativity and truth play a role in scientific thinking; and how answering the big questions will ultimately tell us who we are and where we came from.

The events of these past few months can be likened to the destabilising of a mountain top, creating a political and social avalanche of awesome, overwhelming power. As it cascades, unstoppable, in its devastating surge, it now seems certain that everything in its path will be either swept along with it or buried irretrievably beneath. The public demand for radical change in law and order in the wake of a catalytic event on a tough East London estate featured in Catalyst, the first book in the 'Hotel St Kilda' Trilogy. Now with the second installment, Heaven’s Door, we rejoin the story as the new government, who swept to power off the back of the public’s appetite for reform, start to assert their control. His private and political lives collide dramatically and Tom is faced with a devastating choice which, either way, will lead to personal tragedy.. Inching Toward Heaven S Door

There are few clues as to why a person responds to the vicissitudes of life in a given way. As John Sieckhaus states in this memoir of his own spiritual journey "some have the courage to choose life from their earliest moments of sober reflection while others opt to soothe their pain with addictions of the mind and body, some choose an early final exit and still others stay the healing course trusting that there is purpose to their lives, meaning in their suffering, and healing as the intended outcome of some higher power." The tragic slaying of his parents propels the author as sixteen year old onto a life course dictated initially by his own errant choices and the acculturations of family, tribe and society. His decision to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry is consistent with his search for life's magic formula, the alchemist's quest for the philosopher's stone, but the first fruits of this venture are depression and a horrific encounter with his "family demons". Resort to psychotherapy and chemical dis-ease management, a therapeutic model "characterized by a patient's need to trust in the alchemical wisdom of his or her therapist," proves to be a mere palliative in a desperate striving to arrest the pain, and it is only through an encounter with the living God amidst a small band of refugees from mainline Christian churches that his journey of faith, remembrance and healing begins. John Sieckhaus tells this story with conviction and a deep sense of gratitude for God's provision of trustworthy guides and fellow travelers on the way. It was from James and Mary Baird, a couple whose decision to stand against the racial prejudices inherent in their small town culture in Baird Mississippi in the 1950s forced them to leave family, clan and culture to reach out to the hurting and the needy in southeast Asia that he learned to heed God's call in his life and to pursue his vocation with a new sense of adventure and purpose. In so doing he had to come to grips with his work as a scientist engaged in the development of weapon systems and was eventually led to challenge his company's involvement with nerve gas research and resign his position. With each step in his vocational journey the healing went deeper and finally, after staying the course for more than twenty years, the author was gifted with a revelation of his family pathology which provided the clues concerning his own responses to life. This is a story that the author was compelled to tell because the telling was an integral part of his healing journey and because, as he states in the introduction "I believe that what I have experienced and learned is not just for my own healing and spiritual growth, that perhaps it may help others walk their own path to wholeness. If this should prove to be the case for only one other person it (the telling) will have been worth the effort."
