Your room is darkened, lit only by evocative, flickering candles. You sit in a chair, eyes closed, in a deep, meditative state. Your hand rests on a pad of paper on a table. Resting in your hand is a pen. Slowly the pen begins to move. You don't seem to be in control, yet, feeling safe, you allow the pen to move over the paper. Finally, your hand stops. You come out of your trance and look at the result. The paper is covered with words and drawings, ready for you to interpret. You smile at what an amazing thing it is that you have accomplished. This is not a far-fetched fiction. It is something you can learn to do easily and in a short time if you follow the directions in Edain McCoy's How to Do Automatic Writing. In this book you will discover that there are fifteen steps to follow when doing automatic writing. McCoy clearly explains each step so you can do it. Of course, even before you get there you will learn about the history of automatic writing and theories about how it works. You will also be given exercises and techniques to prepare yourself for this amazing experience. This includes everything from meditation to breathwork. Then, when you have finished your automatic writing session, you will learn how to interpret any words or symbols you have created. And what can you use this for? You can get answers to questions. You can get wisdom from your higher self. You can communicate with the spirits of loved ones, angels or spirit guides. You can even do readings for people. The possibilities are almost endless. And the really great thing about this is that it can be done at a moment's notice almost anywhere. All you need is a pen and some paper. The book also includes methods to encourage your development of the skill, ranging from astrological timing to the use of stones and herbs. The time is "write" for you to learn this skill. This book will do it.

This "compendium of information on the occult sciences, occult personalities, psychic science, demonology, spiritism, and mysticism" was one of a kind when it was first published in 1920 and is still considered the best in its field today. Spence organizes a world's worth of magic -- from "Ab" (a magical month in the ancient Semitic calendar) to "Zulu witch-finders" -- into 2,500 dictionary-style entries that explore concepts and personalities both familiar (Freemasonry, Morgan le Fay) and obscure: palingenesy (a process by which plants or vegetables are destroyed and then "resurrected"), Leonora Galigai (a 17th-century Italian aristocrat who was burned as a witch). A delight for devotees of the weird and the strange, and a valuable resource for students of mythology and the evolution of scientific thought, this important volume is at home in the libraries of all book lovers. Scottish journalist and folklorist LEWIS SPENCE (1874 -1955) was a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, and Vice-President of the Scottish Anthropological and Folklore Society. He published more than 40 works on mythology and the occult, including History of Atlantis, An Introduction to Mythology, and Myth and Ritual in Dance, Game and Rhyme.

Part guided journaling practice, part interactive magical grimoire, The Magical Writing Grimoire shows you how to incorporate writing as a magical tool to create healing and amplify spell-casting. Whenever and wherever you are, word magic is with you. During times of chaos or pain, or simply when you need a cosmic boost, writing can help. In fact, healers, therapists, and magical practitioners have long incorporated writing in their practices. From letter writing for creating closure to dream diaries, writing is a powerful process for moving your dreams into manifestation. The Magical Writing Grimoire approaches writing as a self-actualizing, intentional, and healing act. You will learn how to combine writing with ritual and magic for self-discovery, clarifying intentions, creating and making things happen, and manifestation. You will also be guided in how to create a personal grimoire—a magical book of self rituals, spells, and intentions. Each chapter contains writing prompts that also incorporate magical ritual and tools including working with crystals, spell incantation, or candle alchemy. Other rituals and prompts may be set up for certain moon phases or ask you to bury or burn a piece of paper. Equal parts practical and inspiring, The Magical Writing Grimoire shows you how to wield your word as your wand.

Still filled with strange secrets, this revised and expanded edition of the earlier Calgary: Secrets of the City reveals the whole truth. With stories of notorious figures like the jazz impresario who has had countless run-ins with the law, newly discovered tunnels (and some that are planned for the future), top secret flight experiments, and the go-go club (in which patrons entered by sliding down a tube into the basement), Calgary: The Unknown City brings to light the dark, mysterious corners of life in Cowtown. Also included: True Tales of the Paramedics, crazy roadtrips, weird museums, and an explanation as to why there is no Church of Scientology in Calgary. Two-color throughout, and with hundreds of photographs and illustrations, Calgary: The Unknown City is the perfect guidebook for tourists, newcomers, and long-time Calgarians who want to know more about their city.

Containing more than 500 entries and 100 illustrations, The Spirit Book is the comprehensive encyclopedia to Spiritualism and its related subjects. Plus it provides full biographies of every prominent person connected to the field. Drawing on decades of research, writing, and transcendence, Buckland describes sundry methods of channeling, events associated with Spiritualism, including séances and exorcism, organizations focused on clairvoyance, and a colorful host of mortals—famous and infamous—who delved into Spiritualism. Nostradamus, Helena Blavatsky, and Edgar Cayce receive their due, as well as Joan of Arc, William Blake, Susan B. Anthony, Winston Churchill, Arthur Conan Doyle, Mahatma Gandhi, Harry Houdini, and Mae West (look up and see her sometime). Dictionary Of Psychopathology

Author : Henry Kellerman
ISBN : 9780231518659
Genre : Psychology
File Size : 73.23 MB
Format : PDF
Download : 397
Read : 1242

Psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, theoreticians, practitioners, and other allied professionals who together represent the entire arc of the mental health field must be versed in psychopathology, the study of mental and emotional phenomena, abnormal psychology, and specific symptoms and behaviors. Building a reference that speaks to all of these professions and subjects, Henry Kellerman assembles the first dictionary to focus exclusively on psychopathology, featuring more than two thousand entries (over fifteen hundred primary and more than five hundred subentries) on specific symptoms and disorders, general syndromes, facets of personality structure, and diagnosis. He also includes a sampling of benchmark contributions by theoreticians and researchers that cover the history of psychopathology. These contributions reflect those of a psychodynamic nature as well as cognitive and behavioral approaches, and represent the relatively new field of neuropsychoanalysis as well. This branch of neuroscience is concerned with the relation between the brain and the mind, specifically with reference to brain architecture and function. Monitored by a distinguished editorial board, the Dictionary of Psychopathology mostly adheres to the latest DSM nomenclature while also retaining useful residual diagnoses of previous DSM formulations, as well as diagnostic formulations outside of traditional nosologies. The aim of the Dictionary is to broadly contribute to the synthesis of psychopathology.

About 30 years ago I joined a small group exploring psychic or ESP experiences. Within the group I learn the basics of hypnotism and used them to help other members experience their past lives and to channel guides. One guide came through the subject in trance as her native Indian guide singing an Indian chant as he prepared to speak to us. In the years after, I regressed friends back to their previous lives and also to the time on the 'other side' of life in between lives. Some of these experiences involved talking to 'ghosts', souls who chose to stay attached to the Earth dimension for various reasons. Recently I came into a closer relationship with my principal guides as they revealed themselves to me as visual images. Their thought/words were so much like my own that it helped to write the conversations rather than think them. This is the meaning of Automatic or as I prefer to call it, Spirit Writing. A few minutes each day leads to a personal relationship with these people/spirits who have watched over us with such unconditional love and support since birth. This book can help you to discover your own personal guides. No special or expensive equipment is needed, just a pen, a pad of paper and your open invitation to them to come to you. They will never take over your own will. Whatever decisions you choose to make, they will support you in them but the decisions must be yours. Its your life and these, the dearest friends you will ever have, only want the best for you.
