Barbara was raised on a farm in Puahue, Waikato, New Zealand. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1997. In 2005, she discovered Ironman and set her goal to enter the competitions. In 2007, Barbara was diagnosed with bone cancer. As of 2012, she is cancer-free and sharing her inspirational story. When Barbara learned she had a life-threatening tumor, she, as many do, asked: What had I done to cause this? What could I have changed? Her self-doubt went beyond the "why me" to "what have I done to deserve this?" Before she began the training required for Ironman, she did everything right. She went a nutritionist and made sure her diet was right, went to a physiotherapist, hired a professional coach and consulted her physician. After much soul-searching, she looked beyond her fear and uncertainty and was able to begin letting go of guilt and self-doubt. She realized she would never know how that horrid intruder breached her defenses and that her best hope for recovery was to rely on her ability to focus on learning what would help her body heal. She needed to design a plan of action and knew from Ironman training she could and would do just that. Today Barbara is cancer free, recovering from the double edged sword of chemo, and dealing with the continued debilitating pain of arthritis.

It takes faith to trust in the Truth while being tried by the fire. FAITH TRUST TRUTH TRIED FIRE This book takes the reader on a journey to discover the meaning behind those five key biblical words. The understanding of Truth has the power to shake that which can be shaken, the lies of the devil, and the power to strengthen that which is unshakable. In Hebrews 12: 26-27 the Word says that all creation will be shaken and only unshakable things will remain to inherit an unshakable Kingdom. The Message Bible describes this shaking as- ."a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered." Come, dig deeper. Take a journey that will shine light on the unshakable nature of YOU. Rejoice in the revelation of the Word. Explore its treasures, and know that they are for you. Scripture describes the author of this book as a child of the Most High God, created in the image of love for the purpose of love. She has the mind of Christ, a new nature, a redeemed soul. She is sanctified, a clay vessel being molded and shaped to perfection by the Master Potter, being tried by fire for the approval of the Word. Through the blood of Christ Jesus she has the power to overcome the sins of the flesh. She is equipped with the armor of God, prepared for battle against the wiles of the enemy. All that she is, she is because of the "Great I Am" that dwells within her. Without Him she is dust. That brief description of the author is just a small taste of what the Word of God, Truth, says about all God's children.

You Need a Foundation That You Can Build Your Life Upon! Many Christians have a limited understanding of basic Bible doctrine, and this lack of knowledge breeds frustration and robs them of many blessings that belong to them as believers. Often they find themselves stumbling in the same areas over and over, missing out on the vibrant Christian life they know they should be experiencing. In this book, Rick Renner puts these frustrations to rest as he guides the reader through the six basic doctrines every believer should know so that he can build his life in Christ on a solid foundation of Scripture and sound doctrine. Rick teaches: Repentance -- what it is, what it isn't, and how to do it. What is saving faith? Three baptisms in the New Testament. What is the laying on of hands? The doctrines of resurrection and eternal judgment. A transplant that will save your life. The missing link in many churches today and how it is affecting the whole Body of Christ. What you will learn in these pages will help lay a foundation underneath your life -- or fortify the foundation that has already been laid -- so that you can live the life of fulfillment and contentment in Christ that God intends for you.

The Tragedy Of Almightiness

The Tragedy of Almightiness encircles the theme of human yearning for omnipotence, as expressed in religion and various ideologies. The central question revolves around the matter of what--in pursuing such an extreme power of the will--man seeks to achieve. While exploring the question, a thought-provoking link is made between religion and atheism; between the Biblical longing for God's promise and the Marxist appeal for man to realize that same promise. Omnipotence must vouch for the fulfilling of the promise, for justice and for man's dream of redemption. However that is not where it ends. The longing for salvation turns out to have a dangerous reverse side to it because it encourages a turning away from the actual world and the all-pervading evil. Omnipotence also facilitates the avenging of such evil. History has shown what this kind of yearning can lead to. The book demonstrates how modernity translates Biblical longings into ideologically justified revengefulness. The description of this process leads to a plea for renewed ethical purpose in life. It is a challenge that also extends to religion. Hence the reason that it is necessary to depart from the idea of omnipotence.

What did Napoleon Bonaparte, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie all have in common as the key to their success? They each had immense confidence in their goals. They left no room or quarter for failure. They had faith. Author Paul Ramseyer takes the works of Napoleon Hill, a leading expert on success, and shows readers how to apply the same principles to their faith in God. Paul discovered how to use this power to drive stage 4 cancer out of his body. He also shows the reader how the Bible commands that requests in prayer be made in faith. He goes on to explain how this required faith is the only method we have to reach our full potential. With examples drawn from the most successful men in history, Paul doesn't just tell you to have faith, but teaches how you, like they, can decide to claim it and then gives detailed instructions how you can put it to work on your behalf. Are people sick, stuck in poverty, or victims to repeating sins? He shows readers that they don't have to be. In faith, all things are possible. With the Mechanics of Faith, readers are able to see how faith works to produce in their lives the results that they have been promised. Paul Ramseyer lives in Bloomfield, Iowa. In 2006, Paul learned from the past masters of industry and technology and the Bible how to drive stage four cancer from his body and is called to teach people everywhere how they too can be overcomers and not mere victims of circumstance.

This is not a book of poetry about professionals suggesting medications that are not helpful and are in fact oftentimes harmful on one level or another. This is not a book of poetry about professionals being somewhat blasé about the welfare of their patients. This is a book depicted the real-life reality based verbal, mental, emotional, physical and sexual abuse which is common in County and/or State lock-down facilities for those deemed DTO/DTS, even when those “patients” are forced into such a setting due to false stories/made-up stories or the lies of an abuser. Readers are cautioned that the poetry herein is blunt, disturbing and honest.

Following landmark trade agreements between Japan and the United States in the 1850s, Tokyo began importing a unique American commodity: Western social activism. As Japan sought to secure its future as a commercial power and American women pursued avenues of political expression, Protestant church-women and, later, members of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) traveled to the Asian coast to promote Christian teachings and women's social activism. Rumi Yasutake reveals in Transnational Women's Activism that the resulting American, Japanese, and first generation Japanese-American women's movements came to affect more than alcohol or even religion. While the WCTU employed the language of evangelism and Victorian family values, its members were tactfully expedient in accommodating their traditional causes to suffrage and other feminist goals, in addition to the various political currents flowing through Japan and the United States at the turn of the nineteenth century. Exploring such issues as gender struggles in the American Protestant church and bourgeois Japanese women's attitudes towards the "pleasure class" of geishas and prostitutes, Yasutake illuminates the motivations and experiences of American missionaries, U.S. WCTU workers, and their Japanese protégés. The diverse machinations of WCTU activism offer a compelling lesson in the complexities of cultural imperialism.

The Promise Of Amida Buddha

The Promise of Amida Buddha is the first complete English translation of a seminal collection of writings by the Japanese Pure Land school's founder, Honen-shonin (1133-1212). The so-called Japanese Anthology (Wago Toroku) collects his surviving short writings composed in Japanese, including letters of exhortation and public pronouncements. The vital writings provide a window into Honen's life and the turbulent era in which he lived and taught. Honen-shonin, who lived in Japan in the twelfth century, saw that the complexity of traditional Buddhist practices made them inaccessible to people outside the monastic elite. Drawing on the Chinese Pure Land tradition, he re-imagined Pure Land practice for Japan and ushered in a new and dynamic practice that continues in the present day. In our degenerate age, says Honen, we cannot hope to reach enlightenment via the practices employed by the Buddhist masters of old. For us there is only one avenue to liberation--rebirth in the Pure Land of Amida, from whence our progress is irreversible and our ultimate release assured. The Pure Land is a heavenly destination made manifest through the pure vow of Amida to save all beings, and we secure passage to this land in our next life through pure faith in Amida at the very moment of death. The practice of faith in Amida is performed through nembutsu, the continual recitation of the mantra Namu Amida Butsu, which bonds us to Amida and brings us into his care.
