"... a book about healing revivalists that takes them seriously and treats them fairly." Journal of Southern History"... will be a definitive work for some years to come." Reviews in American History"Harrell has obviously attended countless rallies, read sheafs of literature, and personally interviewed many of the principals. He... tell[s] the story in a largely biographical format. This makes for lively reading." Harvey G. Cox, New York Times Book Review"... will attract readers interested in the reasons behind the various fat and lean periods among revivalists." Publishers Weekly"All Things Are Possible is the first book to tell the story of the enterprisers who have personal followings. The narrative is full of surprises: of seriousness and scandal strangely blended. Professor Harrell has done a staggering amount of research in hard to discover sources; his scholarship is impressive and he is eminently fair-minded. Here is a missing link in the chain of American religious movements." Martin E. Marty, The University of Chicago Divinity School"Harrells book will doubtless be the definitive work on the subject for a long whilewho else will wade through Healing Waters and Miracle Magazine with such fastidious care?" The Kirkus ReviewsThis is the first objective history of the great revivals that swept the country after World War II. It tells the story of the victories and defeats of such giants of the revival as William Branham, Oral Roberts, Jack Coe, T. L. Osborn, A. A. Allen. It also tells of the powerful present day evangelists who are carrying on the revival, including Robert Schambach and Morris Cerullo. The book includes pictures of Schambach, Allen, Cerullo, Branham, Roberts, Osborn, Coe and many others. Those who lived through the great revival of the 1950s and 1960s will be thrilled to read about those exciting days. Those who do not remember those days need to read this book to see what has led us up to this present moment in time.David Edwin Harrell, Jr. is a professor of history at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has tried to write this book in an objective way, although you may not agree with all that he says. Dr. Harrell has visited Schambach revivals.

His name is David Riley, a man challenged by his dream, his ambition and even his faith. In his efforts to provide a service to his clients, he finds himself in a place where being different means being suspect. His colleagues call him a fool. His family and friends say he has too much compassion for a nation of people who don't give his practice much respect and the woman he loves supports him the least when he needs her the most. Something terrible is about to happen to him. He finds himself in dire circumstances as his world starts coming apart at the seams. Circumstances that threaten to ruin everything he's worked for and stands for. Can a man have compassion or is the price too high? Can a man live by faith alone? The gripping yet inspiring story author Norton Helton tells in All Things Are Possible asks these questions and explores the dim side of the legal practice. Norton Helton's first novel signals the emergence of an exciting new writer. All Things Are Possible is among the first contemporary novels that go inside the legal practice- where having compassion and faith means being different.

This story is about love, and how we can confuse it with other things like lust and flesh. I sometimes wonder if we had an inside bell, and we do it’s called the Holy Spirit, Saying something and doing another is hypocrisy. Learning to get up after you fall is called courage. We make mistakes in life but we do not have to compound them. Believe what people say, and watch their actions. Some people say things as a joke they mean it, but don’t have the courage to say it to your face.

Oceania And The Victorian Imagination

Author : Professor Peter H Hoffenberg

Oceania, or the South Pacific, loomed large in the Victorian popular imagination. It was a world that interested the Victorians for many reasons, all of which suggested to them that everything was possible there. This collection of essays focuses on Oceania’s impact on Victorian culture, most notably travel writing, photography, international exhibitions, literature, and the world of children. Each of these had significant impact. The literature discussed affected mainly the middle and upper classes, while exhibitions and photography reached down into the working classes, as did missionary presentations. The experience of children was central to the Pacific’s effects, as youthful encounters at exhibitions, chapel, home, or school formed lifelong impressions and experience. It would be difficult to fully understand the Victorians as they understood themselves without considering their engagement with Oceania. While the contributions of India and Africa to the nineteenth-century imagination have been well-documented, examinations of the contributions of Oceania have remained on the periphery of Victorian studies. Oceania and the Victorian Imagination contributes significantly to our discussion of the non-peripheral place of Oceania in Victorian culture.

“All Things Are Possible” is a 1920 English translation of the 1905 work by the Ukrainian/Russian existentialist philosopher Shestov. It draws on the aphoristic style of Nietzsche and deals with as diverse issues as science, rationalism and religion. This edition also includes an interesting foreword by D. H. Lawrence. Highly recommended for those with an interest in philosophy, and particularly existentialism. Contents include: “Lev Shestov”, “Note”, “Foreword”, “Zu Fragmentarish Ist Welt Und Leben”, and “Nur Für Schwindelfreie”. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially-commissioned new biography of the author.
