As I get older and reflect back on my time on this earth, it is humorous in some respect that I seem to remember the good times. Moreover, in my case I tend to remember the funny things of even a bad situation. It's like your subconscious blocks out the bad things only letting you remember the pleasant circumstances of even an awful situation. Whatever makes this occurrence happen, in my case I think it is good in that it has provided me with a library of hilarious stories. A good story is like a fine bottle of wine and the key is the aging process. In the case of a story the more aging time the more embellished, embroidered, and simply blown way out of proportion the story becomes, and in my opinion, that is what makes a funny story a hilarious one. Therefore, I have propagated this theory throughout this book. . With all this in mind, I have tried to offer in the following stories the right amount of embellishment that will provide the reader with just enough body to paint the picture, but not too much to bog down the reader to boredom. Now I understand that what is humorous to one person may not be the same to another, but it is obvious to me that just the normal day-to-day events can sometimes be the funniest, and if the person can relate to these events within their own experience then in turn they are really laughing at themselves through someone else's eyes. Therefore, with that idea in mind, I am only asking that you sit back, relax, and enjoy the stories, with one different twist, and that is to laugh at me.

The book is intended to provide a definitive view of the field of humor research for both beginning and established scholars in a variety of fields who are developing an interest in humor and need to familiarize themselves with the available body of knowledge. Each chapter of the book is devoted to an important aspect of humor research or to a disciplinary approach to the field, and each is written by the leading expert or emerging scholar in that area. There are two primary motivations for the book. The positive one is to collect and summarize the impressive body of knowledge accumulated in humor research in and around Humor: The International Journal of Humor Research. The negative motivation is to prevent the embarrassment to and from the "first-timers," often established experts in their own field, who venture into humor research without any notion that there already exists a body of knowledge they need to acquire before publishing anything on the subject-unless they are in the business of reinventing the wheel and have serious doubts about its being round! The organization of the book reflects the main groups of scholars participating in the increasingly popular and high-powered humor research movement throughout the world, an 800 to 1,000-strong contingent, and growing. The chapters are organized along the same lines: History, Research Issues, Main Directions, Current Situation, Possible Future, Bibliography-and use the authors' definitive credentials not to promote an individual view, but rather to give the reader a good comprehensive and condensed view of the area.

50 Years Of Peril

Author : Byron S. Brown
ISBN : 9781524699604
Genre : Self-Help
File Size : 27.86 MB
Format : PDF, Kindle

Byron Brown has written an excellent semi-autographical message that resonates with the reader. His excellent details in explaining his story, his journey, his troubles and his ultimately successful outcome all within the backdrop of a memoir of respect and admiration for his father is yet another masterpiece accomplished by the author. Mr. Brown laments in the story the loss of his father in a tragic accident. Although no fault of the senior Mr. Brown, the tragic event led to many perils and what-ifs for the son. Yet, in Fifty Years of Peril: One Day of Illumination that Made the Difference, Byron Brown writes fearlessly in telling his story. This project was designed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the death of Mr. Samuel George Brown, Byrons father. It is indeed an honor and a tribute to the man that Byron missed while growing up. For the reader of this story, you are in for a treat. Stephen J. LaBrie, MBA, Howard University.

My fore-father Vikings arrived in North America in ships like this one over 300 years before Columbus and you'll find the historic facts in this book. I arrived in a more modern vessel. My son Earl S. Jenshus designed both the cover, showing a likeness of "our Stavangerford" and the back page. He is an international known graphic artist. Reading these pages you may learn a little Hawaiian, learn how to shoot birds on the wing, train dogs, buy the "pick-of-the-litter", shotgun safety. How to make money investing in real estate and how to look at the similarities of languages instead of the differences. You can learn how to hypnotize chicken! More useful might be the secret of how to pronounce a-multi-syllable word the first time you see it (!) and how to have a long and happy marriage in the process. It covers 80 plus years of living on two continents, 50+ of them in different states in the USA, starting as a penniless immigrant in Brooklyn N.Y., working in different fields before I found my niche in sales. Including as well are hundreds of years of history, part of which I have actually lived and more still of what I have learned being an avid reader since early childhood.
