Excerpt from The Representative Men of the Bible: Adam to Job Elijah's chariot that Elijah's chariot brings a message to my soul, for it is then that I read in 112's experience a thing which can be repro duced in my own. A revelation from God is not a statement of what men once did; it is a statement of what men may always do. T/zere lies the power of the Bible! It is not the revelation of something which was once revealed to a little band of worshippers; it is a revelation of how God always reveals. It is the special announcement of that which is not special - of the universal order of God's word and ways to man. It tells not how He Spoke once, but how He speaks always. It is the proclamation that there is spiritual law in the natural world, and the enumeration of those eternal principles by which that law is enforced and maintained. The men of the Bible Gallery are photographed because they are universal men. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Wiersbe presents people from Aaron to Zedekiah, offering selected quotes from respected Bible scholars on each character. By putting the thoughts and experiences of these great contributors to work, Wiersbe cracks open complex Bible characters and gives overworked pastors and teachers a simple starting point for effective communication.

This observation by the great preacher Charles Spurgeon launched Warren Wiersbe on a study of the lives of prominent Bible characters. Interested in more than biographical facts, Wiersbe sought out the themes of each person’s life as reflected in the pages of Scripture. How does the Bible summarize this person’s life? What is the key to understanding his or her character? How do I see my own life reflected in the life of this person? Here is the fruit of this study. A popular reference book with a pastoral and devotional flavor, Life Sentences takes you into the lives of sixty-three men and women who encountered an extraordinary God. For each, Wiersbe identifies a verse that sums up that individual’s life and then reflects on the lessons to be learned, both positive and negative. Not only will you be challenged by these examples, you will be stimulated to consider what your “life sentence” will be.Life Sentences is an ideal reference tool for teachers, Bible study leaders, and preachers seeking to bring Bible characters to life. But it is written from a pastor’s heart, so it also makes ideal devotional reading for anyone who wants to more clearly understand the Bible and apply it to life.

The Landmark Edition Of The New Testament Kjv Study Bible

Author : Eld. Larry Killion
ISBN : 9781493102976
Genre : Bibles
File Size : 73.27 MB
Format : PDF

This is an 872 page New Testament Study Bible with footnotes written from a Landmark Baptist point of view on Church Truth. It is a work completed by several cooperating contemporary Ordained Elders of the Landmark Baptist Faith. It is available in Hard Back, Soft Back and in Electronic Format. The King James Version drew heavily from the Tyndale and Coverdale translations of the New Testament. Tyndale and Coverdale translated the Greek term ekklesia as “congregation.” However, King James ordered his translators (within his 15 rules to the translators), not to translate ekklesia but instead to use the ecclesiastical term “church.” All contributors to the Landmark Study New Testament are thankful to be free from the rules of a human King for this edition. We trust and pray that the great King of Kings will bless this effort to His honor and glory. We humbly present the Landmark Study New Testament for the edification of God’s elect and a clearer understanding of New Testament Ecclesiology. The KJV text remains intact here except where they did not translate ekklesia and baptizo by order of King James. We have also added "Modern English" words in brackets next to some of the "Elizabethan English" words that some call "archaic". Elder Larry J. Killion.

AMONG eminent persons, those who are most dear to men are not of the class which the economist calls producers: they have nothing in their hands; they have not cultivated corn, nor made bread; they have not led out a colony, nor invented a loom. A higher class, in the estimation and love of this city-building market-going race of mankind, are the poets.
