How can we know whether or not God exists? For the last few centuries many scientists have promoted an atheistic or agnostic reply. In the latter half of the twentieth century, however, a set of remarkable discoveries about the origin and development of the universe dramatically jolted the foundations of their position. Have cosmologists been forced to acknowledge the existence of God? If so, how? Historically, the question “How did the universe begin?” has evoked chauvinistic replies from opposing camps: • Scientists have said that there may be an answer, but it will come only through a study of science. • Theologians have said that there may be an answer, but it will come only through a study of theology. • Philosophers have concluded there is no answer. Some existentialists go so far as to declare that the question itself is absurd. To tell the story of how the question has been answered—independently and corroboratively, by both science and theology—is the purpose of this book.

From the award-winning NPR religion correspondent and author of Life Reimagined: The Science, Art, and Opportunity of Midlife comes a fascinating investigation of how science is seeking to answer the question that has puzzled humanity for generations: Can science explain God? Is spiritual experience real or a delusion? Are there realities that we can experience but not easily measure? Does your consciousness depend entirely on your brain, or does it extend beyond? In Fingerprints of God, award-winning journalist Barbara Bradley Hagerty delves into the discoveries science is making about how faith and spirituality affect us physically and emotionally as it attempts to understand whether the ineffable place beyond this world can be rationally -even scientifically-explained. Hagerty interviews some of the world's top scientists to describe what their groundbreaking research reveals about our human spiritual experience. From analyses of the brain functions of Buddhist monks and Carmelite nuns, to the possibilities of healing the sick through directed prayer, to what near-death experiences illuminate about the afterlife, Hagerty reaches beyond what we think we know to understand what happens to us when we believe in a higher power. Paralleling the discoveries of science is Hagerty's own account of her spiritual evolution. Raised a Christian Scientist, she was a scrupulous adherent until a small moment as an adult triggered a revaluation of her beliefs, which in turn led her to a new way of thinking about God and faith. An insightful examination of what science is learning about how and why we believe, Fingerprints of God is also a moving story of one person's search for a communion with a higher power and what she discovered on that journey. Love, surrender, and service to all life are the central themes in Fran Blackwell's poetry. These themes manifest stylistically from humor to ecstasy. She turns mystery into insight with one carefully produced phrase. The subject of her poetry is Life, and each poem is like a song from the experiences of Soul. With infinite patience and acceptance, she examines the experiences of her own life and delivers the inner wisdom she gains from this examination into common language. She shares her spiritual inheritance unselfishly, honestly, and joyously. Like the works of Rumi, Fran's poetry reaches beyond religion, culture, and time. It speaks to all who have the ears to hear and the vision to see the uncommon beauty and insight that manifests in her words. A dream poetry class with Rumi was the inspiration for these poems, which were written over a period of three years. The author's lifelong quest to know truth and God, no matter the cost, has been a road filled with experiences of love, pain, joy and profound opportunities to know the ways of Divine Spirit through the Beloved Master. It has been an exhilarating journey that continues to lead her to higher truths as she explores the inner worlds of the Divine. The relentless inspiration of Spirit has resulted in these poems, in which she tries to express in words the truth of the eternal nature of Soul. It is her passion to share this with all who walk the path of their spiritual journey.

In this book I'm going to prove to you that God does exist, and He is living and working today just as He did almost 2000 years ago. He is shouting at the world that He is coming on Rosh Hashanah. Are you ready to meet the King of kings? Let me ask you a question: Do you believe in life after death? (Yes/No). Do you believe in Heaven or Hell? (Yes/No). If you died today would you go to Heaven or Hell? Why? Because I'm a good person! I'm not a bad person! (John 3:3). If you picked Heaven there is a test that you could take right now to see if you are good enough to go to Heaven. Let's take a quiz to see if you are good enough to go to Heaven. Have you ever heard of the 10 Commandments? (Yes/No). (Exodus 20:1-17). If God were to judge you right now by the 10 Commandments, how you would do? Let's use only four of them.... Number 1: Have you ever told a lie before? (Yes/No). What do you call a person who lies? "A liar." Number 2: Have you ever stolen anything before? (Yes/No). What do you call someone that steals? "A thief." Number 3: Have you ever looked upon a man or a woman in a lustful way? (Yes/No). God says "That anyone who looks at a woman or man lustfully has already committed adultery within their heart (Matthew 5:28). Number 4: Have you ever used God's name in vain? (Yes/No). God's last name is not Dammit! If so, you're called a blasphemer! By your own admission you are a Liar, a Thief, an Adulterer, and a Blasphemer. If God were to judge you right now based on four or three or two, would you go to Heaven or Hell? Would you be innocent or guilty? "Guilty!!!" So, would you go to Heaven or Hell? You would not be going to Heaven; you will be going to Hell. (Romans 3:10). This is what Christ has done for you: Say you went to court for owing $100,000 in back taxes and the judge asks you to pay it or go to jail. Well you know you don't have a $100,000, so you tell the judge "I cannot pay." So the judge asks the bailiff to handcuff you and escort you to your jail cell. Right before you leave the room a man stands up and offers to pay your fine. The man takes out his checkbook and writes a check for a $100,000 dollars and gives it to the judge. The judge says "You are now free." How would you feel about this man that paid the fine? Would you be grateful, happy, thankful, to this man? That is what Jesus did for you when He died for you on the cross and paid for your sins. And He takes out His hand and shakes your hand and says "Will you follow Me?" (Yes/No).
