For many years I struggled to find real, lasting joy. Whenever I achieved a goal that I believed would bring me happiness I would find that the happiness I sought had moved somewhere else: to the next job, the next college degree, the next completed project, the next success. Never the current one. It was a discouraging way to live, and my dissatisfaction fueled a desire for change. Through books, mentors, good friends and spiritual guidance I learned how to transform my beliefs and thoughts and reshape the emotions and actions that determine my results and create the reality in which I live. I've experienced greater peace, fulfillment and success as I've worked to internalize these life-giving truths. I am excited to share them with you, and I hope they will bless your life as they've blessed mine.

“How It Feels to Be Me” is a celebration of life and the human experience, with all its ups and downs. Accompanied by beautiful pictorial reminders of our common humanity, the twenty-five poems in this book are filled with echoes of kindness, love and joy. They offer a sense of stillness and balance, connectedness and meaning. As we make an effort to truly see the people around us – their struggles, their pain, their fears and dreams – we can cultivate within ourselves a desire to make a positive difference in the world, one life at a time. We can stop dividing people into classes – the haves and the have nots, the worthy and the unworthy, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ordinary – and simply love them exactly as they are.

From covering the front lines of the Gulf War to investigating Colombian drug lords to living with freedom fighters in the mountains of Afghanistan, war correspondent Brad Willis was accustomed to risk. But when mortal danger came, it was from an unexpected direction. At the pinnacle of his career, a broken back and failed surgery left Willis permanently disabled and condemned to life in a body brace. Then came a diagnosis of terminal, stage IV throat cancer. At his 50th birthday party, friends gathered around Willis, who was crippled, almost mute, depressed, strung out on narcotic medications, and dying. Halfway through the celebration Willis realized the party’s true purpose—his friends were there to say goodbye. Everyone knew Willis was on his way out...everyone except his 2-year-old son, who urged, “Get up, Daddy!” His son’s words ringing in his ears, Willis chose to abandon Western medicine and embrace the most esoteric practices of Yoga to heal his body, mind, and soul—ridding himself of cancer and fully restoring his back. As a symbol of his journey, he took the spiritual name Bhava Ram, which stands for “Living from the Heart.” Warrior Pose is an adventure chronicling some of the most momentous events of our time through a journalist’s eyes, an unforgettable story about the power of love between father and son, and a transformational journey of self-healing, inner peace, and wholeness.

Childlike Simplicity Slowing Down Letting Go And Living With Wonder

Author : Gerry Baird
ISBN : 9781365194832

File Size : 49.8 MB
Format : PDF, ePub

For most of my life I have felt the pull of two influences. On one side there is the learning, performing, accomplishing influence that urges me to turn everything into a project and complete as much work as I possibly can. On the other side there is a call to inner peace and stillness, communing with nature, building relationships, creating experiences and embracing the moment. I think there is a time and a place for both. As I’ve aged, the need for rest has increased. Not rest from a physical perspective, although there is some of that, but rest from a spiritual perspective – a chance to let go and ponder and slow down. That’s what this book is about: simplifying, loving, existing, living in the present and seeing with new eyes.
