Vancouver-based Geoffrey Farmer (born 1967) is internationally known for his laboriously crafted projects of epic proportions combining theatrical techniques with historically sourced material. Developed over extended periods of time, the artist's multilayered works pursue multiple narratives, appearing in a constant state of transformation, as he continues to revisit and alter them. Presented at the Canadian Pavilion for the 2017 Venice Biennale, and named after an Allen Ginsberg poem, A Way out of the Mirrorincludes found-photographic and sculptural components that together constitute a meditation on the damage that seeps down through generations, drawing on his own history and his relationship with his father, as well as images of his grandfather's car accident, and diving deeply into a more universal contemplation of truth and reconciliation.
Chronicles the year the author spent avoiding her reflection, an effort throughout which she relied on the feedback of others to help her gauge her appearance, outlook, priorities, and beliefs about beauty.

This is a workbook designed to help adult children of covertly narcissistic parents understand their family dynamics, how growing up in a narcissistic system has influenced their present lives, and finally how to heal and move on. This is not a book about understanding the narcissistic parent, that just continues the dysfunctional behavior learned in early childhood. This workbook is designed to help those who find themselves stuck in a loop of people pleasing, and codependency finally come out of the mirror and into their own wonderful true selves. There is little understanding of narcissism and even less around the subject of children who are raised in narcissistic families. Much research has gone into this project, but the field is still new and many clinicians still dismiss it as a diagnosis. However, for those who have problems of codependency but neither parent was an alcoholic or drug addict, finding qualified help can be quite difficult. Many therapists don't know that there even is such a thing as covert narcissism! Take your time with the workbook, join with some friends or even start a small group. This would also be a wonderful resource for therapists to use with their clients.

"Of course, angels are real!" Maverick giggled to Nora over twenty years ago. She played with the baby, danced with Kat, and was very patient with Rant as she/he cursed in a fury within Nora's psyche. Twenty years ago, these "parts'" presences were known but didn't reveal themselves to the outer world of psychiatry or fully to Nora because they were misinterpreted as symptoms of schizo-affective disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, delusions, hallucinations, and psychosis. So they went back in Nora's mind and waited patiently...to be heard. Patience ended in 2010 when Rant exploded and took hold of the steering wheel, literally. "Looking in the Mirror Out" is Nora's experience as her "parts" reveal themselves, uncensored, raw, and exhaustedly, as she and they get to know each other and work together in Nora's inner and outer worlds. Their experiences are unique, yet, encompass surprisingly common themes with anyone living in today's world.
