Dieser Band versteht sich daher als eine Einfuhrung zu diesem umfassenden Gebiet. Hierfur sind Auszuge aus den Satirekolumnen der drei wichtigsten Satiriker von 1990 bis 2000 ausgewahlt worden, um den Zusammenhang zwischen Satire, Medien und gesellschaftspolitischer Entwicklung darzustellen. Im Fokus der Untersuchung steht die offiziell geduldete bzw. ?erwunschte' Pressesatire, die sich nach einer Phase der volligen Gleichschaltung der Printmedien ausdifferenzieren und professionalisieren konnte. Die Autorin sucht aus dem iranischen Verstandnis jener Zeit heraus nach den diskursbestimmenden Faktoren in der offentlichen Satirediskussion. Zunachst wirft sie einen Blick auf die iranische Satiretradition, die mit der islamischen Kultur eng verknupft ist. Es werden die spezifischen persischen Begrifflichkeiten in ihrem gegenwartigen Gebrauch systematisiert und voneinander differenziert. Mit Hilfe satiretheoretischer Ansatze und Auffassungen wird das Fundament, auf dem die iranische Satire dieser Zeit basierte, sichtbar gemacht.
