For most of my life I have felt the pull of two influences. On one side there is the learning, performing, accomplishing influence that urges me to turn everything into a project and complete as much work as I possibly can. On the other side there is a call to inner peace and stillness, communing with nature, building relationships, creating experiences and embracing the moment. I think there is a time and a place for both. As I’ve aged, the need for rest has increased. Not rest from a physical perspective, although there is some of that, but rest from a spiritual perspective – a chance to let go and ponder and slow down. That’s what this book is about: simplifying, loving, existing, living in the present and seeing with new eyes.

“Living in the moment” is the ultimate cliché. We toss this phrase about as if we knew what it meant, talk about being more mindful, and get excited about restablishing our innocence. A moment is an elusive event. It stands out from the events that precede it and those that follow. It tends to happen quickly. And it often evaporates in the blink of an eye. The proposition of The Moment is simple: What if we could experience each moment more deeply as it unfolds, make it last longer, make it more memorable? We would have a more momentous life—a more richly lived, fully experienced life. While it may seem daunting to live fully in the moment in our fast-paced, distracted world, The Moment is a disarmingly practical, no-nonsense guide that introduces Four Keys that can instantly elevate your experience of any moment: Wake up your senses to create a more sumptuous experience of the world. Crave meaning to discover a deeper appreciation for moments as they unfold. Wave-ride energy to create the thrill of momentum in your life. Make time stand still and be rewarded with the gift of the flow experience.

It S Okay About It

Popular blogger Lauren Casper shares poignantly simple yet profound wisdom about removing the barriers we construct around our hearts and doing life full-on, all from the least expected source: her five-year-old son, Mareto. Five-year-old Mareto finds color and light in the ordinary happenings of every day and delights in beauty just waiting to be found. Those are lessons he shares, often unknowingly, with his mom, Lauren Casper. For Lauren, living with Mareto is a lot like playing the telephone game. He blurts out little phrases that have their origin in something he saw or heard, but by the time they make their way through his mind and back out of his mouth, they’ve transformed—often into beautiful truths about living a simple, authentic, love- and joy-filled life. From “it’s okay about it,” a simple reminder that even when life is painful or difficult, things will be okay because God promises never to leave or forsake his children, to “you’re making me feelings,” which teaches the importance of leaning into one’s emotions and, in doing so, sharing a piece of oneself with loved ones—Mareto’s simple yet profound wisdom is a reminder to embrace the broken beauty of life, to believe in a God bigger than human comprehension, and to love others even when it doesn’t make sense. For all those looking to recapture the faith, simplicity, wonder, hope, courage, and joy of life, It’s Okay About It provides a guide to look inward and live outward, to discover the most wide open and beautiful life possible.
