Expert dog whisperer and trainer, Morgan Andrews, writes in a fun and entertaining way about Cavapoos while packing the book full of useful hints and tips. In addition, 20 expert Cavapoo breeders and owners were actively involved in making contributions, including three in-depth top breeder and owner interviews packed with advice and tips. Just some of the subjects covered include: origins and history of the Cavapoo, colors, buying a dog or puppy, male or female, rescue, adoption, breeders, personality, socialization, spaying, neutering, house/potty training, bringing your puppy home, grooming, combing, bathing, health, vaccinations, training, understanding your Cavapoo, play and toys, what food and nutrition, old age and what to expect, and much more... "I struggled to find a book to go with Alfie, my new Cavapoo puppy, a great find with plenty of tips and advice from experts and fellow owners." - James Wittingham
cavapoo Cavapoos are a recent hybrid breed of dog with a lineage directly from Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles. They are not a recognised breed, and their genetics are still very unpredictable. A puppy could have inherited genes predominantly from either gene pool in its lineage. Some Cavapoos have coats that shed regularly, and others have coats that shed very little. The hypoallergenic Poodle gene is not a guarantee because the breed is too recent. Whichever gene pool a puppy may lean towards, one thing is certain - it will grow into a cute and cuddly looking dog with a kind and gentle nature. Cavapoos thrive on human company, are eager to please and train easily because they are intelligent dogs. One thing a Cavapoo is not is an outside dog that gets very little attention! Cavapoos have to be integrated into a household and be part of the family for them to flourish and grow into happy, healthy dogs. In return, they give unconditional love, loyalty and dedication to their family. Cavapoos are excellent companion dogs that enjoy outdoor play, walks and keeping humans company. They are active and need regular exercise and mental stimulation, so training and interactive play are vital. Cavapoos are not an innately aggressive breed of dog and do not make good watch-dogs. They make excellent service dogs and can be trained to do a wide range of household chores. Being working dogs this makes them feel part of the family, and they thrive on the praise they get as a reward. Cavapoos make excellent therapy dogs. That makes them the ideal companion for the infirm of any age who find themselves housebound. Cavapoos' loving nature and adaptability make them the perfect companion, no matter what your lifestyle. If you are considering adding a cute and cuddly Cavapoo to your family, this is the book that will give you all the ins-and-outs of what life with a Cavapoo will be like. Covered in this book: - Behaviour problems - Buying - Costs - Day to day care - Diet - Exercise - Grooming - Health - History - Necessities - Preparing your home - Temperament - Training ... and much more.
