Oops--he did it again! David Stukas, author of Someone Killed His Boyfriend and Wearing Black To The White Party, unleashes his wildly popular--and outrageously funny--trio of sleuths on the unsuspecting world. This time, Robert, Michael, and Monette are up to their pectorals in sex, blackmail, seriously ripped abs, and murder. . . It ain't easy being pretty. And it ain't pretty NOT being pretty in Chelsea. That's what has Robert doing an excruciating set of leg presses under his ripped roommate Michael's preening tutelage--when Michael isn't admiring his new leather workout shorts or going on about how the super-buff trainer, Flex, keeps checking him out. So it takes Robert by complete surprise in the locker room when Flex grabs Robert, hands him a CD-ROM and a hot kiss, and takes off running with a promise to retrieve the disc--and Robert--later. But Robert doesn't have long to ponder a roll in the hay with Mr. Uber Body. The next morning, Flex is found murdered, pushed from his high-rise Madison Avenue apartment. Suddenly, Michael and Robert are feeling like the wrong guys in every Hitchcock film ever made. And when the going gets tough. . .the tough run and hide at their lesbian friend Monette's apartment for protection. Now, as they muscle their way into a hidden world of escorts, fetishists, drug dealers, and pampered men leading double lives, the trio dive deeper into a mystery that has more layers than Michael has Frette towels. And when the killer strikes dangerously close to home, New York's most wanted sleuths will have to give it everything they've got before someone can give them a final workout. . .. Sexy, catty, and downright hilarious, Biceps Of Death deliciously skewers the cult of the body while delivering an abs-olutely perfect nail-biter of a mystery.

One night, eleven-year-old Todd Whitman receives a terrifying but hilarious midnight visitor: his cockatoo-plumed, dementia-stricken, John Travolta-smitten Grandma Carter. In constant nocturnal search of the mysterious "Dancer," Grandma clutches her absurdly precious Saturday Night Fever album cover and giggles her way through the dance steps of her youth. When forty-something Todd returns home to help his dying mother, he reflects on that pivotal summer of 1981: the unique relationship he developed with his grandmother, the chaos of finding his place in a large Mormon family, the near misses of impressing the one-and-only Jenny Gillette, and the utter social catastrophe of junior high. Ultimately, despite the ups and downs of life, Todd finds peace and strength through the selfless and dedicated lives of his grandmother and mother.

Since its inception in 1968, the brain-death criterion for human death has enjoyed the status of one of the few relatively well-settled issues in bioethics. However, over the last fifteen years or so, a growing number of experts in medicine, philosophy, and religion have come to regard brain death as an untenable criterion for the determination of death. Given that the debate about brain death has occupied a relatively small group of professionals, few are aware that brain death fails to correspond to any coherent biological or philosophical conception of death. This is significant, for if the brain-dead are not dead, then the removal of their vital organs for transplantation is the direct cause of their deaths, and a violation of the Dead Donor Rule. This unique monograph synthesizes the social, legal, medical, religious, and philosophical problems inherent in current social policy allowing for organ donation under the brain-death criterion. In so doing, this bioethical appraisal offers a provocative investigation of the ethical quandaries inherent in the way transplantable organs are currently procured. Drawing together these multidisciplinary threads, this book advocates the abandonment of the brain-death criterion in light of its adverse failures, and concludes by laying the groundwork for a new policy of death in an effort to further the good of organ donation and transplantation.

The Dresden Files have taken the genre of paranormal mystery to a new level of action, excitement, and hard-hitting magical muscle. Now, in Death Masks, Jim Butcher’s smart-guy private eye may have taken on more than he can handle... Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Such as: • A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards... • Professional hit men using Harry for target practice... • The missing Shroud of Turin—and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss... • A handless and headless corpse the Chicago police need identified... Not to mention the return of Harry’s ex-girlfriend Susan, who’s still struggling with her semi-vampiric nature. And who seems to have a new man in her life. Some days, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. No matter how much you’re charging.
